Does anyone know of a problem that is preventing KCS from routing trains from the Speedway into south Alabama, south Georgia, and/or Florida? The reason I ask is that for the past few days a number of long mixed freight KCS trains with 3 or 4 SD-50/60 locomotives have been using the CSX NO&M Sub along the Mississippi Coast. What is odd is that this Sub is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. So these trains are running at about 15 mph, and having to stop at grade crossings because the lights, bells, arms, etc are still not working. I assume that something major must have happened, because having these trains come through drastically interrupts repair of the tracks and roadbed.
Sounds like teh mystery is deepening? Does KCS perhaps have a major maintenance problem somewhere? A bridge? Or? Boxcab E50
