J Widmar, Welcome to the TrainBoard, Great to have you on board! That's one fine bridge, if it's a model. If not, then it's a beautiful photo!
Hank C., Thanks for the kind words, here is an explanation of the picture. The photo is of a scratch-built from brass model that I did a few years ago after taking a lot of measurements and photos at the real bridge located near Canon City, CO. The real bridge would not support trains, but there were a few suspension bridges used for railroads. The Rio Grande went through the canyon at the bottom of the Gorge so I decided to go over and use my own roadname, the " Royal Gorge Western" with the slogan "Over the Royal Gorge in N Scale". I've enclosed another shot from the top with a RGW excursion train ( a MDC 2-8-0 and Rapido "old time" cars) going over the bridge. John W.
PF2488, The earthmover and road grader were part of a set of four plastic vehicles (dump truck and bulldozer) from Bachmann. They are quite a few years old.
My latest work includes adding an eight track hidden stub yard: A four track "staging" through yard under the layout. Getting rid of the helix over and under reversing loop (yuk) and replacing it with a simple balloon track (which may house a roundhouse and turntable in the future): I also started to scenic the "horseshoe": Future plans are to add the retaining wall: And to redo the intermodal area. I will be ripping out the current three track yard with one container crane and replacing it with a four track yard with two container cranes:
Garth, that is looking really good! I especially like the look of the horseshoe. What fits above the hidden 8-track yard?
Hopefully a town that is removable to get to the yard tracks. Still have not quite figured out how it will look or work.
That's more great stuff, folks! Here's one from the "lost and found" bin on my 2'x4' Lodi Junction layout.....
Thanks guys.... I used fine black thread for the wires, with a touch of quick-dry adhesive and a quick mist of accelerator.... As for the rail color? I whole-heartedly agree! They need to be weathered... alas, the layout was sold on eBay 2 years ago!!!!! If it makes you feel better, I have about 290' of weathered Code 70 Micro-Engineering flex track in the basement.... in a box, waiting for the monster layout to start! Pics will come as soon as progress is made....
