I hope you've got a lot of patience and a lot of storage space! CSX has a lot (Sense a pattern yet?) of junk running around their system. A lot (!) of it roams freely around the system whereas many of CSX's own engines are in specific power pools. I'm sure you'll see plenty of it where you are, given your position between Huntington, Cumberland, and Waycross. Good luck finding it, if that's your interest.
I currently have a separate album on my hard drive for Leasers... I was hoping to share some of those photos. Yes, they are numerous on CSX (and NS too..), and I have already accumulated several hundred photos. I enjoy the variety even within the same company, such as HLCX: I think I have well over a dozen distinct different paint schemes (former roads). Harold
Here are a bunch of leasers on CSX. All of these photos are re-runs from other post. Hope you all enjoy them a second time around.
This one looks kinda sad and lonely like it misses working over Tehachapi or Donners. </font>[/QUOTE]Yeah, he is really out of place in the flatlands with the chickens and hogs in eastern North Carolina! Harold
Here's a CEFX unit I caught last year in UP colors... I like the SD45 body with a "Dash-2" sight glass added! Harold
I was talking with a buddy of mine who works for CSX here in Jax and he said that CSX does not have enough locos, as evidenced by the lease power, to operate the track. RR biz is good right now and he said to look for more as they are weary of expanding too fast, cause as soon as it ramps up, it can ramp back down too. So many GPs with leases on them, its a credit to their builders that they are still in service.
Yes, it is a delicate balance of power that must be maintained... one of the benefits of leasing all of the power that they do is when a RR's new units arrive, it can also lead to unit # reductions, due to more powerful and better tractive effort units. Harold
