Anyone have reliable info regarding sale of the Southern Tier line in New York State? (former CR, Erie)

Everyone wishes there was some real information somewhere. All of us that work on the Tier have supposedly been sold to BNSF, UP, CP, D&H, Metro North, G&W, Rochester Southern, Reading & Northern and almost anyone else who walks slow past NS's door in the last year. The Tier looks to be winding down to a slow painful death but we'd all like to know who's going to pick up the pieces.

Haven't heard anything concrete about the Tier but NS did announce today that it will be looking to unload some duplicate lines in the very near future as well as reducing the number of current employees. This was an official NS release. On a different subject, last night an NS train mistakenly setout its cars into the Chrysler Trenton Engine Plant bldg rather than into a siding causing as of now $3 million in damages- a conductor trainee threw the wrong switch.

Thanks for the thoughts. I work for D&H and really would like something to be settled on so as we can have a plan as well.

Gotta watch those trainees, I got 10 points account one didn,t throw the right switch and I ran through it. Lucky that only cost $3.00 for a new bolt and not $3million.

I saw the news release from NS. Makes you wonder if the Tier is considered 'redundant' by the higher powers. Funny that every time there's a problem on the Harrisburg line, 25K and others shoot right up this way without a hitch. Is it worth keeping as a safety route to handle the detours? Where else could that stuff go?

The NS could sell the Tier and in case of a derailment on one of the NS mains, trains could still be detoured over the Tier (with or without pilots), this way the NS could unload the track and all the costs invovled in its upkeep but still have access to it in case of a problem- it's been done before!
