Hi all. I am a life long N-scaler, however I am dabbling in O gauge for an under the tree layout, as well as a possible future o gauge layout as part of a Lego city layout.

So far I have purchased the Santa Fe Super chief Lionchief set, and the newer C&O Berkshire Lionchief set. I have been having a lot of fun running these two sets under the tree.

I find myself being tempted by some of the features in the legacy engines. Here is my question...

Q: Assuming that I ditch the dc power supply that came with the LionChief sets and replace it with an AC transformer, would I be able to run a Legacy engine on the layout using bluetooh / lionchief app WITHOUT having to add any type of base or command station?

    Thanks!

Yes, as long as it's a newer engine with Bluetooth. I believe some of the older Legacy engines do not have Bluetooth.

The lion-chief app on phone works ok, however if a reset on track happens, be alert. my legacy engine has taken off full throttle on me when that occurred due to the short or derailment at a switch. the Bluetoooth is ok but i do not think it is reliable as it should for what you spend on a engine like that.
