I'm curious as to what kind of locomotive roster ya'll run. Mine is rather humble since I've only recently got back into the hobby. Mine looks like this: 2 - C44-9W's SP both speed lettering 2 - SD-45's SP 1 - speed letters, 1 Roman block letters 2 - SD-9 SP 1 in black widow, 1 bloody nose 1 SD-35 SP Roman block lettering 1 RSC-2 SP bloody nose scheme 1 P-42 Amtrak #77 I've reserved 2 tunnel motors and will pick up at least 2 more. Will also pick up at least 1 VO-1000. Also, I'll have to get a couple of the SD-50's off ebay. Still looking for an F7 A&B set in Black widow colors. Could Atlas possibly be thinking of releasing some "F" units??? Will IM or MT do any "F's" in SP colors??? Obviously this is a small roster. I'm curious to know or see picts of what you all are running. There's got to be some pretty massive fleets out there! [ 19. August 2002, 20:11: Message edited by: espeeman ]

Thanks Dangerboy! WOW, what a drool fest! I knew some of you guys had some pretty impressive rosters! That also explains why I haven't seen the question posted since I started coming here. Anybody want to post what they've added to their list since July 2001?
I think I posted my roster in the previous thread, but it has changed somewhat since deciding to back-date the layout and reduce the amount of big locomotives, concentrating on more 4-axle units. So gone are things like C40's and C44's, and in come more GP30's and 4-axle GE's.
Espeeman, Don't fret over a small locomotive roster. Mine is even smaller: 2 SD-35's 1 RS3 1 SW 9 1 E8 End of roster. I would love to get my hands on a VO-1000. But lately, there has been a choice: money for model railroad or money to make housepayment and food. My model railroad budget remains about $20-30 a month. Needless to say, rebuilding my entire layout on that budget makes for VERY S L O W going. I envy people who whine and complain that they can only afford 2 of the new locomotives that just came out. Heck, I want a VO-1000, but will have to wait until they come out, and then hope I can find one when I can afford it at some point. I still love model railroading, despite the costs. Heck, I still use MRC's Command 2000, cause I got it cheap(read free) , and it does for me what I need it to (run locomotives). Not everyone has a railroad budget like the UP. I was quite impressed with the size of some people's roster too,and the variety, from steam to modern power.Even though I like the new first generation models coming out,I am not going to buy any,I'm trying to stay true to a modern western era.I wonder if I should even get any tunnel motors, they are getting old and imagine they will soon be dropping off the prototype U.P. roster. How ever,I am sure I don't need any FT's....... nope, they just won't fit in....no,no,no,don't need any...
Mine used to be humble, but now it's approaching mighty. Not quite like those of you unmentioned folks with 100+ locos....... 5 Kato SD80/90MACs *2 c/p in BN, 3 awaiting paint* 4 Kato SD40-2 all BN *1 c/p for BN 8002, and one awaiting paint* 3 Kato E9's CB&Q 4 LL GP-20's 2 CB&Q, 2 BN 3 Atlas SD60M all BN 1 Kato CP snoot SD40-2 1 LL SD7 awaiting paint *BN*
I see that there is a distinct shortage of steamers in these rosters , so here it is for us steamer guys: STEAMERS: 2...4-8-4 Bachmann Northerns 2...4-8-2 Bachmann Mountain kitbash 4...4-6-4 Con-Cor Hudson 1...4-6-2 Atlas Heavy Pacific GTW 3...4-6-2 Minitrix Pacific 2...4-6-2 Atlas Light Pacific GTW 4...2-10-2 Minitrixkatoatlasbachmann Santa Fe 7...2-8-2 Kato Mikado 1...2-8-2 Rivarossi Heavy Pacific GNR 1...2-6-2 Bachmann Prarie 2...2-8-0 Spectrum Consolodation 3...2-8-0 Bachmann Consolodation 1...0-8-0 Atlas 1...0-6-0 Minitrix 2...4-4-0 Bachmann American 36 total DIESELS box cars with motors) 6...Kato F3A 6...Kato F3B 1...Life Like C- Liner A 1...Life Like C-Liner B 2...Atlas GP-7 PH I 4...Atlas GP-9 PH II 1...Life Like GP-9 High Hood 1...Arnold SW-9 2..Life Like SW9/1200 4...Kato RS-2 kitbash to RS-3 2...Atlas Classic RS-3 30 total All steam engines are CNR except for 3 GTWs and one GNR 2-8-2 to be sold on ebay and all the diesels are in CNR green and yellow paint. This is depicting the motive power that the CNR used up to 1960. No modern diesels on my road, so I have to wait for the reruns of the older diesels and kitbash up steamers that no manufactureer ever modeled. STEAM RULES!!
My diesel roster consists of the following: </font> Two LifeLike GP20s</font> One GP18, recently acquired from eBay, in CRIP colors(for now)</font> One LL SW1200, still in CNW colors</font> One Atlas GP7</font> One Atlas RSD4</font> One LifeLike E8 (in Frisco racehorse colors)</font> One Bachmann F9 (from Russ Hoffman, awaiting striping & lettering)</font> I wouldn't mind another GP7, and the new Baldwin VO1000s look real good to me, but for now I've got plenty of motive power to keep the trains rolling. HA! I have you beat: 1 LL SD7 (N&W) 1 LL GP20 (N&W) 1 Riv SW1500(?) (N&W) That's all! I'd love to get my hands on another GP20 & a pair of N&W Hi-hood SD35's. But they are a pipe dream right now... AMEN! I feel your pain brother! I'm in the same boat on budget restrictions. Right now, I'm saving my pennies for an MRC 280 (duel) powerpack to replace my circa 1970'S MRC throttlepacks (this will take a while to save up for). Until then, acrylic paints, plaster, and other household scenery materials are cheap. So I continue to work on scenery and pick up tips from this (and other) forums. [ 20. My roster has changed some since the last posting because I have decided to go DCC. I sold some of my older models on Ebay that either didn't fit my era(modern CSX) and others that would have been harder to do the install on(not DCC ready). The sales of some of my older engines is financing my conversion of the rest. On the other hand, I have picked up quite a few new locos w/DCC and then a few I couldn't resist( 2 LL CP C424s). In some cases, I make them fit my eras, artistic licensing.

The Galesburg & Savanna is a midwest bridge route running from Indianapolis to Minneapolis. Era is 1955. My favorite prototype RR is the CB&Q, so I avoid using power it used as much as possible: Yard Power: VO-1000 Alco S-2 USRA 0-8-0 (GHQ Castings or????) USRA 0-6-0 (Bachmann???) Baldwin Consolidation NKP design Berkshire USRA 2-6-6-2 USRA 2-8-8-2 Alco FA/B1 Alco FA/A2 Alco RS1 Alco RS2 Alco RS3 Baldwin Sharknose EMD BL2 This roster does not count CB&Q, MILW, CGW, IC, and other foreign connecting road power that interchanges with or has trackage rights on parts of the G&S. Note that the G&S did not purchase power from Electo Motive; the pair of BL2s were ordered as a threat to Alco and the units, like any "orphans" on a railroad were not well liked and had a poor availability record. The G&S Savanna Division may see more steam assigned from other districts depending on availability; for example it is rumored that some of the Berkshires may be pulled out of storage and rebuilt for manifest service. Hi SP9811, I see you don't have any F3's or F7's either. Would that be by choice or the lack of availability? I wish someone would re-run some in SP colors. BTW, what are the paint schemes of your locos? Espeeman
Hi Espeeman I do have one SP "F", but its Life Likes old run. Its not on the roster anymore, but I still have it. Would love to have more but its like you said there's not much out there for us SP fans. Most all my units are Bloody Nose, except for the SD7 and Geep 9 which are Black Widow, and one A-A-B-A set of PA's, and the two E9's that are Daylight. Also have one engine I forgot to add and it is a RS-11 in Bloody. I soon hope to add the new B40-8, and next year the SD40T-2 & SD45T-2!!!! Its about time for those two! Thom SP#1
My only Black Widow scheme is my SD-7. I love this paint scheme (as well as Bloody Nose) and would like to have more. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to custom paint so I may try that route. The manufacturers say SP doesn't sell very well but I guess Algoma Central, GM&O, New England Central, and Chicago Great Western are big hits! Clearly they haven't looked at the prices SP equipment is pulling on ebay! Guess I'll have to learn how to paint!
Hello gang! Instead of me posting all over again, I just updated my roster on the other list (page three). Man, do we have alot of motive power out there! [ 29. August 2002, 19:24: Message edited by: Maxwell Plant ]
