    Just as amazing is how much is still recognisible after 60 years.

    I did the run from London to Brighton in 2010. I'd traveled up from Exeter to London in the morning and was looking for something to do in the afternoon after checking into my hotel so I decided to head down to Brighton and check out the Volk's Electric Railway that runs along Brighton beach.

    Phenomenal synchronization, impressive. It's interesting to note how much complex trackage in metropolitan areas has been removed since 1953. I guess it's due to less use of rail for both freight and passenger since then. What struck me were the high number of people in the two stations in 1953, and how they had thinned by 2013.
