marker lights

    Do any of you professionals know what the correct lenses for the forward locomotive marker lights. I guess this would be a steam locomotive question.

    Do you mean the correct colors or sizes?
    Answer to both:
    White means the train is running as an Extra, not in the published timetable for employees. There were both scheduled passenger and freight years ago, everything else ran as an extra.
    Green means the train is second or more section of a scheduled train or has a second section following, depending on which railroad's rulebook was in effect.
    Red was used as a rear marker or as a marker for equipment left parked.

    Most lights did not exceed 6 inches in diameter and were used on steam and most first and second generation diesels.

    Marker lights are rarely used in modern railroading, except to set one for red and one for green at Christmas.
