Heres a few pictures from this past weekend from the show that 6206_S1a (Mike) and myself, do and attend These pictures are a mix of his cars and loco's and my cars and loco's... We didn't run anything to prototypical so. everyone excuse our right of using our modeling liecence!

The first picture is of Mikes Rivarossi Allegheny pulling a solid unit train of Bethgon hoppers.... And a CSX bay window caboose!

Mikes H-8 passing the station on the unit train... I had done the modeling on the structures and the laying of the track and roadbed....

H-8 passed the station headed into the bridge that you'll all see in a few more pictures.... Its all hand made from popsickle sticks and card board hot glued together....

This is the helper of the H-8, I forgot it was on the rear keeping up slack! A Rivarossi
2-10-2, B&O "Big Six" cleared the bridge and about to clear the crossing!

Thiers more on the way Barb! Here ya go.....

My Spectrum GP-30 B&O #6904, and now my EX B&O Spectrum Baby Trainmaster, traded to Mike for his Baby Trainmaster in a different sceme, pulling my freight train, about 18 cars....

The B&O GP-30 comming through the bridge I mentioned in the above posting with the Allegheny...The loco is pulling the same train. I had painted and weathered the bridge to run steam, notice the smoke effects on the bridge...

Change of motive power on the Coal porters, 2 Chessie helpers, I think theirs a CSX SD-70M or a SD-80MAC on the point, maybe both! Hey Mike what was pulling when you snaped this ????

Nermind Mike, I see what the point motive power is now.... HA! I posted them backwards!

This is what is on the point of the Coalporter train pulling, while the Chessie's are pushing!

The next pictures are of the O scale layout......

Gary and Pete's work, Gary's SD-60 MTH pulling a mixed freight. 18 to 20 cars, The buildings and all were supplied by Pete and a few cars and Gary brought in a bunch of loco's and cars as well... And the "Rico" station is also Gary's, which I think both guys sold the buildings to the Historical Society....

A Set of F-7's ABA Western Maryland in the "Fireball" scheme also MTH pulling a full Western Maryland mixed freight as well about 17 cars long....

An overhead of the O scale layout with the SD-60 pulling... the Western Maryland no where in sight.. Must be on the other end of the layout! ENJOY!

John, you're bringing tears to my eyes.

I love how much you guys have done since the TB Gang was there this past summer.
We did get to see your magnificent steamers and B&O work train back then.
This was a treat to see a lot more trains operating! The museum is open all the time to the general public so trains cannot be left there, until an open house comes along.

Mike, I heard about your collection and it's sure looks fine!

My best to my cousin-in-law, Peter.

I almost forgot this bad boy! My Mantua B&O "P-7" President Washington 4-6-2 Pacific!

Not very prototypical, but its pulling a freight train at varnish speeds with no trouble or wheel slip! Very good running loco! Not to mention, maculant in looks! Its a Mantua Collectable offered in 1996.

John, now don't be modest, and tell the folks at TrainBoard about that trestle you made! It can be seen somewhat, so tell everyone the FULL story!

This is Mike's (6206_S1a's) SD-70M pulling a string of Bethgons, I'm not sure what was on the other end pushing... Mike????

Boy, would that shot look good with 2 SD-70M's pulling that train! :D

Mike's SD-35 Atlas Western Maryland pulling the same cars at a different time. I think we switched loco's about ever half hour. I'm not to sure but it was frequent!

Next pictures are more of the O scale layout of the "scale" version, and not the classic toy trains version, that everyone's seen so far....

Modeling and trains done by Garry abnd Pete, in the Historical Society, and both guys had sold these items including scenery to the HS as well....

The loco's are FA-1's in Western Maryland "Fireball" sceme pulling a few cars and cabbose, these I believe are old Lionel from the late 1980's to early 1990's

Gary had modeled Meyersdale's own Radio station, WQZS 93.3, plays the oldies, 50's and 60's Rock and Roll!

The WM Fa-2's comming out of the tunnel...

    Nice shots Mike!

    JT,
Is this the thing you mean??? [IMG]

The bridge? HA! It started life as a high school science project that was ment to show designing and structural strength on bridge weight classifications. and was ment to break! We had a choice of type of materials used, either toothpicks, or popsickle sticks. I choose popsickle sticks!

The test was how you were graded. It was built without the interior details and all. No "X" bracing and no cardboard gusset plates, or walkways, a basic bridge frame! We had 2 weeks to build it and have for the project grading and the testing of it. Being 2 different types we possible 2 different types of testing were done. The tooth pick bridges were tested using ounces, and the popsickle stick bridges were tested using pounds!

They took the bridges (one at a time) and spaned them between to desks and hooked a small plastic hopper type thing to the tooth pick bridges and a bucket to the popsickle stick bridges and then added weight acordingly to what materials used. However I funked the test, (being the bridges were supposed to break as weight was added.) I had held 27 pounds, and the teacher went to get more weight from the lab, off the scale and went up to 28 pounds and ran out of weight and it never bent or bowed. Today that same bridge with just cardboard gussset plates were added and the "X" bracing for detail, along with the 3 outlooks on one side and the walkway on the other. It never had the center bracing inside either I added that in case of a derailment being it was planed to carry trains if it didn't break! So one train wouldn't hit the other in a derailment inside the bridge, and both trains off the track inside the bridge to make it on train instead of 2!

When that was built in 1994 my younger brother had stood on top of it, lowered by me to see if it would hold his weight then, before I took it to school! He was 7 years old at the time an weighed around 35 to 45 pounds, on an educated guess! He's 15 be 16, and weighs alittle less then I do now!

As I built my own layout, at home it was to large to fit anywhere an sat around collecting dust, so, I had taken and fitted it to the Historical Society layout that I designed to get some use out of it. All I've done since I brought it home from school in 1994, was add all the detail and bracing and gave it a paint job and weathered it.. Notice the soot on the upper overhead braces! I run steam alot, so. This was a must!

Like I said, I got an F for the testing, an A for completion of the project, and a very fustrated Science teacher over the fact he done 2 bridges one with tooth picks and one with popsickle sticks and his popsickle stick bridge collapsed with just 15 pounds on it. while mine sustained 28 pounds plus the weight of the bucked hooked to the center of the bridges!

I imagine now, that its alot stronger yet with all the "X" bracing, and the cardboard gussets!!!

There is truth to the words, "Super Glue".

    Yep, JP.
    That's the bridge I meant!

HA! JT, no super glue would hold that thing together! The wood grain would soak up the super glue! :D Even if I used Gel super glue, it be to rigid anyway, and brittle! The hot glue was the glue of choice for that project!
