More pictures of the "Fun Run" Train Show... :D

    ENJOY!

My Athearn DD-40 pulling my scratchbuilt MOW train! Emerging from the bridge comming up on a signal stop.... The train itself is 21 cars long, and the loco was bought as a single motored version, and I have since upgraded its prime movers from one motor to 2 motors, and had taken out the old Athearn noisy drive shafts and put in more effient and quieter rod shafts connected with flex-tubing couplings...

DD-40, and train as it passes Mike "6206_S1a" as he snaped the picture...

DD-40 and train sitting at signal waiting on the dispatcher for the proceed with caution....

Mike, had got the itch to make an interesting lash up.. And it looks pretty good if I do say so myself....

My DD-40, and his SD-80MAC lashed up, with my MOW train in tow...... ENJOY!

Heres a few more From this past weekend at the Meyersdale Historical Society....

Mikes SD-70M, pulling I'm not sure what. HA! With a new handrailing upgrad! They aren't plastic anymore! These are redesigned Metal handrailing that I designed an made to fit his loco from Athearn Stock metal stanchions, with custom fitted railing designed from the original plastic handrailing that was so brittle!

Close up of the nose of Mike's SD-70M showing the new handrailing..... Now the loco and its handrailing will withstand a lousy wreck and not hurt the handrailing. Before, with the original handrailing, all you needed to do was brush against the handrailing an it would break. I counted 7 breaks in it when I removed it to custom make the new metal handrailing. all from light handling and one or 2 derailments....

A picture of myself at the O scale controls.... Being the 2 O-scalers weren't around I had left Mike run my layout and I did the running on the O scale.... And managed one derailment. The MTH CSX SD-60 will run!!!!!!

One more picture for now... ENJOY!

My Rivarossi EL-5 as it is now, from being a factory loco, I had custom painted it to be more prototypical from what Rivarossi had done.... I added the B&O capitol Dome on its boiler front which is a brass detail part, gave it the same road number as Rivarossi did "7165" Painted the cab roof back to red oxide, and silvered up the smokebox front and added loco numbers to the head light side plates, and the B&O 2-8-8-0 classification destination under the cab numbers of "EL-5". The tender was also custom painted, with the tonnage of coal it carried along with its gallon capacity, and the loco number on the rear of the tender, and got "save coal" lettering by the coal bunker, between the cab and tender, but on the tender where the cubby holes are...

I had bought this loco for just what its doing, and doing very well. Pulling my Work train! For the longest time, it was the ONLY loco I owned or knew of that would pull this heavy train unassisted. ITS thee only steamer I own that will continue to pull this train alone as all the rest will pull it for so long and then start to get warm and have to be pulled and replaced with another loco. This loco in the picture has pulled that same train unassisted since 1996... And has never gave me any trouble in doing the job it was bought to do.

Ok everyone I hate to run, but its 11:30 AM here and I have to open the show at 12:00 Noon so... I'll post more after 5 PM tonight. As thats closing time!

    Hey Gang,

I hope everybody enjoys the pics from this years Christmas show at the Meyersdale WM station. There'll be more coming from 7600_EM1 that I e-mailed to him. It goes to show that model railroading can be enjoyed by Prototypers and nutz like me & John!!! WHo would ever think up of lashing an Allegheny to Modern day CSX Coalporters? :D Or see a DD-40 & an SD-80-MAC pulling a heavy train?
Like I told a friend of ours, "You can Only see it here! ( How about that Allegheny With a Big Six Hyndman Helper?!?!?!?)

Thanks guys, I can just hear that bridge creeking and see it vibrating as that big EL-5 comes clawing its way up grade! Man those were the days of thunder. He is probably pulled down to around 8 or 10 mph and that stack pressure is barking so loud they can hear it all the way to Sayer! Hey did you see those front drivers slip! Yeah, nearly half around! Wow! :D

Watash, The big GUY is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I have to get my thoughts together to post the pictures of it. Wait.. You all think that EL-5 is hard on that bridge.... I got a BIGGER loco that will cross it one day once I get the electronics right for the power pack and all the electronic features are working properly!!!! :D

Here they come!!! Watash, this is what I've promissed to get to you to see for the last what? 2 or 3 years ?? Maybe 4 years!!!!! ENJOY!

My PRIDE of Yellowstone Hobby Repairs......... My EM-1 "7600" also the base of my screen name.. Setting on bridge, with the stacks just clearing the other end of the beams of the bridge! This loco when completed, will have side of firebox glow, in cab firebox glow through the butterfly doors, articulated steam sounds, cylinder hiss, directional lighting pilot and tender, And possibly a double smoke unit! That will pause in wheel roll to make a solid 3 chuffs per wheel revelution! I just got to get the electronics done an a good source of steam presure inside, (motor) that will work with the power pack as I'm drawing to many amps an its throwing an overload on the power pack... So, Mike an myself done a mock-up of it.....

My EM-1 "7600" at station.... Without train!

    7600 on curve with train!

7600 showing outside articulation.... Its setting on 24 inch radius curves, which the whole outside mainline is 24 inch radius and the inside mainline is 22 inch radius!

7600 on same curve, showing cab numbers, and tender lettering and all the other details....

Next post will be the mock-up helpers!!!!!! ENJOY!

OK, heres more of the holiday Fun Run at the Meyersdale Historical Society!!!!!!! ENJOY!

This is of the O scale layout, The loco is a Pennsy, M-1a which is a 4-8-2, which belongs to Pete R. JT, you might recognize this loco!!!! :D Hauling about 10 to 12 cars. I never counted them.. How about you Mike? Know how many cars Pete had coupled to this ????

another picture of the Pennsy M-1a of Pete's.... In the rear portion of the O scale layout....

M-1a as it stops past Mike as he snaped the picture....

This is a Pennsy K-4, 4-6-2. Owned by Gary, pulling a good 18 to 20 car drag... The loco is a MTH model all cast.... Pulling the fropnt of the layout stretch....

The 2 Pennsy steamers of Pete's and Gary's making an almost front-of-layout meet..... ENJOY!

More of the HO scale layout with the 7600 and double headed EL-5's....

My EM-1 #7600 once again.... Broard side shot... Sorry for the blurryness.. I tried to clear it up. But you can only do so much! In this shot, its across the bridge getting ready to take on some well needed water, as its in tow of the MOW train pictured with my EL-5, # 7165 pictured in other postings....

A pilot shot of my EM1..... Hard to believe this loco was a UP Big Boy at one time!!!!!! Sure is looking sweet... Sure had the sweat rolling off my forehead chopping it up to make a B&O
EM-1, 2-8-8-4! The loco is just emerging from the bridge as picture was shot, by Mike!

A picture of Doubleheaded EL-5's. Sorry for the small picture guys and gals, but it was to blurry to post in the next size up! So I made it a quarter screen sized picture to make it slightly sharper focus! The next picture is better! The front loco is Mike's, and is the factory version of my EL-5's as it was when I bought mine! And then I noticed it wasn't prototypical so I custom painted mine and kept the same loco number and B&O class of "EL-5"... Both loco's are the Rivarossi up grade as Model Expo had offered them.

They are pictured as Mike's leaves the bridge and mine is about ready to leave the bridge!

EL-5's as they run through the bussiness district of the HO scale layout..... Passing the slow moving car and its driver.... I imagine with that loco tonnage and the train in tow, the driver is wondering how its passing him, with their size compared to his size! :D ENJOY!

    And last but not least!

A last EM-1 picture setting at the bridge, of its pilot, as it stands tall.... As to say..... "Stand Up and Fight" :D

This is a full view of the layout that carries all the HO scale trains.... Its of my own design. and was built by me, except the bench work, Pete had built that at his home, and brought it into the station, as an uncovered wall frame only, and then he and I had laid the plywood for the sub-roadbed.... This is what it looks like with the panels and the over head canopy.... :D ENJoY!

    Jim,
isn't this crazy! I had that same trouble last evening! I went to send you the pictures you seen in this thread through e-mail and my e-mail server was down from some machine that holds information on my account so... Go figure, and now yours is doing the same thing! If I would speak my mind... I'm sure a few would have heard some new words for their vocabulary... But I just *think* the things, being they aren't to respectfull so... :D BUT talk about being half ready to pull out the big hammer... my 15 pound sledge..... HE HE HE

Heres some more pictures from the shop for the past 2 weekends!

I'm at the controls in the background of the picture.... I lashed up the 3 F-7's and a BL-2 all 4 loco's made by MTH, in Western Maryland for a long freight train. all on the inside mainline, and on the outside mainline I got a Lionel C-40-8, and a MTH SD-60 coupled to a long freight train too.. just to show the O scale guys I CAN double, even triple head O scale loco's being they have that "newtral" directional thing with starting the loco's to run... Its like grab the throttle and pull it, in reverse the loco's go.. then shut it off slowly (unless your like Fester from "The Adam's Family and want cars or a loco on the floor) and then pull it on again and the loco's are idling in place, and not moving, and then shut it off and pull the throttle again and in forward they go... The O scale guys can't seem to get multiple loco's running the same direction.....

My EM-1 #7600, setting at signal waiting for the dispatcher to let him proceed with the tonnage!!!!! Showing the grade, just emphasized by possition of the camera!!!! Its not that steep!!!!! BE SWEET IF IT WERE and the loco's hauled it alone!

My Western Maryland M-2 Challenger, passing the station. and proceeding down grade! ENJOY everyone!
