    Wow, great pictures, this is the sort of thread I extremely enjoy looking at [IMG] I'm going to have to break out my digital camera and post a few pictures of my own sometime, may be a while since I don't have a layout of my own, however I have access to a club layout (and a very very nice one at that) which I can probubly pose some of my locos on when I get the chance to drop by there.

    VGN,
    Thats alotta pictures of my own work.... All the loco's their that are seldom seen in scale are made, and customized by myself.... This is what all those brass detail parts from Cal-Scale you asked about will do! The diesels pictured tho, I haven't touched detail wise besides put on the numbers in the bug boards, and painted the handrailing and all. no real detail done to them, not like the steamers anyway....

    Steve,
    The layouts far from done! But its able to run the trains from a push of 2 switches and then pull on a throttle and the way you go... The entire layout is on a 1 percent grade being the old Western Maryland Railroad station that the club is in, we got the freight room for the train room being the builting is leased to the local Historical Society so.....They're doing a museum of the town and all in the other end of the station, and then the trains in the freight room end as to say or begin how my home town became what it is today. from the generations of railroading through iut. Being their was 2 different railroads that ran through town, and YES I live right between where both sets are! Only the one set has long went or merged with the B&O in 1972 and thats now CSX so.... and the old track was tore up and made into a biking trail.... But, we did manage to preserve the depot and its history and what railroad history thats around the area.... The HS is working on getting the Western Maryland's Big Savage Tunnel portal "keystone" thats a solid 4 foot thick chunk of concrete! And we're going to embed it in soft, sidewalk concrete and make a memorial with it. Being the tunnel itself is going to be part of the biking trail and they're in the process of restoring the tunnel itself and had to cut the top sections of the tunnel out so the contractors could put a new liner in it. and then they will restore the portal to what it was when built in 1911. BUT the original portal and all we're trying to preseve as much of it as possible being its in relatively good shape! This is all in the near future so. We have alot of planing to do from now till March 2003 so. March is when we hope everything begins to take shape!

    John, you are being modest and you're leaving out one important detail.
    You never mentioned the many THOUSANDS of people who have seen the layout over the past couple of Christmas holidays! And how many thousands of dollars you guys have made for the Historical Society.

    Out of the goodness of your hearts, and for the love of trains, you boys have brought much joy to the people around there and have brought the MHS the much needed funds that would not be in their pot if it wasn't for you guys.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE BOYS OF MEYERSDALE AND SAULSBURY!

    JT,
    With the weather this year is wasn't to great. We made enough to cover the electric costs, and all and the newest bought parts of the layouts we the builders/designers, and runners supplied to the MHS that they bought from us in donations. I'm not sure how the gift shop done tho! They may have done pretty good. I think this year in train room donations we made about $400 maybe $600 total... I'm not exactly sure of that. But with the weather we had.... thats really good we were nailed with snow and ice both weekends so.... over a foot of snow and 2 inches of ice and sleet... Which made traveling conditions rough and kept alot of people inside. Plus we had canceled 1 night so. Being the weather wasn't fit for a reindeer to out in! So....

    But its all taking shape. aliottle at a time for me and Gary and Pete. we all got alot to do.. away from the HS and all with my shop... Gary's starting a hobby shop (Hopefully, prays to God) and Pete has his thing an all... So... we all work as we have time and then make time for the shows on the days they are running so.... I know I got a ton of electrics to do to mine yet! I have sidings to split into different blocks, and bumpers to iluminate to show they have the power turned on to them, and God. All the buildings to light, plus build the mountains in the far corner and the engine facility on the opposite end.... So, I got alot to do before I'm even half done with it... PLUS I got the Salisbury Viaduct to build out of Nickle tubing for on my layout yet.. Which is going to be interesting to do..... HA! I got my work cut out for me... PLUS then I'm going to end up wiring the O scale board and the G scale board! Being Pete and Gary both loves how my layout is controled and still simplified in design! So.... I'll be doing a lot of [IMG] And when its all done that diesease of [IMG] can go right to pete and Gary to do it and I'll have fun watching and laughing at 'em! :D Being I'll have to explain how everything works once its done! So they can run it!

    Yeah, The weather was nasty here for those 2 weekends.... Out of all the weekends I done this show for the Christmas holiday I have never seen it give us such nasty weather.... And if my memory serves me right, this made my 6th year, maybe 7th! So..... And never once (till this year) did we cancel a night, which happened to be the second Friday of the month of December is the night we canceled!

    Johnny & John;

    Also don't forget that we closed early on saturday due to no people and the Meyersdale Vol. Fire Dept. had the road above the station closed due to power lines down. But, all in all, we had alot of fun running our trains and can't wait for the Maple festival to do it again, hopefully with better weather outside to bring the folks into check us out! But for now Merry Christmas to everyone at Trainboard.com from here in Salisbury, PA. [IMG]

    Watash ole buddy, you sure are welcome! I had promissed you I'd one day get some pictures of my articulateds, just, I didn't know when or how, being my digital camera isn't the greatest, and not to mention my regular camera is misplaced. Mom had put it up so the younger brother wouldn't get it and ruin and now... We can't find it! So..... But I seen the chance to make it happen with Mike and his borrowed digital so.... And he didn't mind (By the way Mike THANKS) so...... BUT I got 2 times that many Articulateds that I didn't dig out. Being I had planed out to run diezuls this year at the show and run steam on ocassion but we mixed it all up so.... But one thing forsure.. WE SURE HAD FUN! :D Merry Christmas ole buddy... and Happy New Year!

    JT, yes it is! Pete and Gary are well..... train crazies like me and Mike to the very end! The craziest part is. I'm the only original train guy left thats been their since it all began in 1993! I was their as a "loner" when the Laurel Highlands Model Railroad Club was in the same room, (mind you it never looked like it does now back then) but I have never quit or was thrown out like the LHMC was! And then a few other "loners" came and they had just quit and thinking of them, I haven't seen nor heard from any of those guys! And then Pete and Gary came along and I had asked Mike if he'd like to run along with me.. And we been their ever since! 4th or 5th year now.... But Pete, Gary and I are the ones that got the room to look how it does now! All the other displays were temorary things and taken out when the LHMRC left.... And then sat up again the following time they done a show! I can remember building a 4 by 6 layout outside on my front ourch in November to have other their for the Christmas show that year! This was before we built the permanent layouts you got to see in July! But I'm going to do most od the wiring on all the layouts I'm sure.... I been doing a bunch on the G scale board and O scale board for Pete. BUT then, when I go to the show, or I go to get ready I take a full tool box with any and everything. Ya never know what might happen.... Soldiering Iron and all, even my Dremel as well..... Plus a big set of precision screwdrivers and wire.... And a full lubercation kit and I just began to carry super glue and Plastruct weld so... Its a full box with all that! Plus bits for the Dremel, in an asortment, and soldier, and flux, and god 3 hand fulls of wire! And QD contacts for layout maintenance.... Being all my wiring is done with Quyick Disconnect wire ends! So I carry new spares for the possible "Just in case" happens!
