I think Penzee did some buildings which you could modify easily, too.

    Mike,

Contact me off line and I will give you the contact info for Bryan Bolger. He will build any Micro Structures kit for you completely painted to your specifications at a relative low cost plus the cost of the kit. He has done numerous buildings and special projects for me. He is an outstanding artist and professional. His work is definitely worth the cost.

    Yours,

    John

I had promised on of our favorite guys on here that I would finish a whole series of downtown buildings for his layout, here it is several months later but in the past few days I have made some real headway on the elusive true scale Z bricks alone. Actually it has evolved into more than just the bricks but that is what I'm going to show here for now. The photo shows just the basic paint before any chalks or washes. Eventually there will be as many as 20 different storefronts, building sides and backs, and roofing, enough for a modeler to configure them any way they'd like for their layout. If it wasn't for this friend bugging me I probably would have given up. Now I'm glad he kept nudging -I think! o_O

Karin,That's looking good. Can't wait to see what you come up with here. One suggestion if I may, many old brick buildings weren't all brick, especially cornices and other decorative doo-dads (the technical term for corbels, dentils, etc.), so maybe have some with laserboard trim pieces? Too fancy?I would be all over those for my module. James

Keep on bugging Karin! I'm sure the final product will be a lot of fun to crash and bash- not to mention building straight up. Lots of possibilities. I like James idea for cornices etc too!

I am sure everyone and their brother knows of this webiste. There is information about all those doodads and whatnots on the front of buildings. A lot of them were from the same sources and used all over the US. If and when I get my hands on bricks and windows and dodads, I will make buildings as best I can using this site as a guide. Google Earth with street view and measuring tool will help a lot too. http://www.state.il.us/hpa/ps/construct_mainstreet.htm

More details? Shoot, now you've done it! I really don't like showing unfinished work especially when it has changed considerably since the photos. But the 3D cornices and other details were added early on. Don't want you thinking my stuff is shallow :) the plan is for adding strips and shapes of varying textures to be painted in contrasting colors by that guy who has been bugging me *grIn* The photos with color are a better version.... but so much more to go.

    Karin,

WOW! My urban kit-bashing heart lept for joy seeing these! But my favorite Z scale lady you have teased me before, so what is your mark on the wall for when you will be releasing these as kits and will you also be producing a generic DPM-style modular wall with windows and a door?

    Yours,

    John

Thank you John, John, etc :) As for Shamoo John, you really do want to share remember? Cost for one person is huge, cost as kit available to all is a relief! And to think I was trying to keep your identity a secret....

BTW, photos below are before cornices, before window sills, before awnings, before decorative attachments, and of course before window mullions.
The when depends on how best to produce them in quantities affordable to all.
