I have a couple of Model Power bay window cabooses that need MTL couplers. MP makes funky trucks that have the mounting holes waaaay too big for MTL truck pins, so I want to body mount MTL 1015 couplers. Years ago, I would have just drilled a hole in the underframe and screwed the couplers on. However, I no longer have my pin vise and drill bits. Also, I'm losing my ability to do fine detail work in N scale. Therefore, I was wondering if I could just use Walthers Goo to glue the couplers on. Has anyone done that? How did it work? Thanks for your replies.
I know what you're talking about, losing ability/dexterity for N scale detail work. Kiz. I haven't done exactly that but I have used Goo to keep coupler pockets in place for other MT installations (Life-Like E8s, for instance) and it has worked fine for many years. Just be sure to let the Goo set up real good. Doug
If you would like to replace the trucks, the extra bits and pieces that Micro-Trains trucks come with include a bushing that can be placed on the top side of the hole that you insert the truck pin into.
I would definitely like to replace the trucks with caboose trucks, but for various reasons (one of which is my Optivisor doesn't have a light mounted on it), I can't see what I'm doing, another one of the reasons being the black underframe and the black bushing being covered up by my fat fingers... Hmm... not to mention Kiz's fat head...
