In this video I cover the complete build with unboxing to detailing. The Walthers New River Mine was a really fun build and I would recommend it for any modeler railroad or not, just fun to do. I use other things in this build including walkways, add an additional door and several other detail items that help this building really pop out and look great. Tichy Open Grate Platforms, Walthers Fire Escape and Walthers Roof Details all add so much to the realism on this model. Scratch building some awnings to kicked it up a notch I think! I enjoyed that, thanks. Just a FYI, I think....THINK....your gluing problems in the early part of the filme stemmed from pre-painting and covering the styrene where it needed to be softened and weldged by the glue. I would have assembed those parts that were tiny, yet needed a strong bond, first and then sprayed them flat black as you did. Sounds like you had fun. I enjoy the odd locomotive crossing the viewing field.
Hello Coverton, thanks for the feedback. Your right, I do usually mask or keep the glue area's clean from paint. I didn't really have much problem with gluing though, it all came together nicely. The transition loco's are fun right? I am going to shoot some more of those, maybe add a boxcar or something there, I think it would be neat. It was a really fun model to build. When I got to the platforms, it really started coming together and yelling for more "stuff". Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for the reply!
Unlike many attempts I have seen, this looks well used and aged, but not like a decaying wreck. You have a superb eye for details. Wow.
Thanks for the compliment, I really didnt want a wreck, it would be very old on my layout to. I like the model though and wanted to use it, this was the best way to be able to have it in the 70's-80's. Thanks again Mike

Hey Colonel, Thanks, its so nice to get a subscription from here! You know, I spend the time on these builds and figured on this one it took longer on the video than to build the model! Crazy right? I have a few more build video's, I try to key in on different techniques for each video, so, they all have a bit of stuff to share I think. I really wish I could see more build video's like this on YouTube, reading about something and seeing something are two different things for me. I get so much more from a video. Mike: I watched, and subscribed and liked....Very cool putting the weathering on first, then painting, then taking some of the paint off...and yes, a lot of the Walther's kits are a bit bare. What gauge wire do you use for your electrical boxes and such? Awesome build. Great editing...I didn't hear you swear once!

Hello Paul, Thanks for the sub! I am not sure what gauge that wire is, its pretty small. Most of the wire I use (I have a lot of different wire) is simple necklace wire, usually fairly small stuff. I find this at craft stores mostly and usually only for a couple of bucks. If you get into a craft shop and never really been to one, the things you find are incredible for modeling. Just all kinds of stuff! Hope this helps, wish I knew the gauge for you.
Hello Gizmo! Thanks for subscribing to my YouTube Channel! I really had a lot of fun putting this model together. I am still tweaking on it, working on the lighting and misc things here and there. I may have to put up another video on how it stands when I finally shelf it. I imagine though the N Scale might be a little bit more difficult maybe? The parts would be a lot smaller!
The N-scale kit was not difficult at all to put together. Actually I find most of the Walthers kits are straight forward fun builds.
Hey Gizmo, I agree, I enjoy putting them together and 99% of the time, I am very pleased with the outcome. Just seems to me building the kits like this are very rewarding to me, they dont take long and you have a great looking structure when your finished.
