They should try starting at 99 cents. Might learn how the world feels about it's honest value that way. But 99 cents plus the $14.15 shipping is way more than I'd pay.

Even at the asking BIN (no bidding) it's to much. Everything needs repainting, replacing, replating, repairing. The MPC flat has a broken truck (and no wheels), milk car (without platform) is very rough paint and missing doors. The caboose is probably worth the most to me anyway...five bucks. Has the frame with toolboxes, ladders, stack, and window inserts that will probably clean up.
Mix of 031 and 027 trackage components, power pack is a joke.
    Is that a handcar chassis?

I'd give twenty delivered, just for parts, and pitch the rest (in fact, he/she could keep the track and just pitch it).

    Opinion.

Can't argue with any of your points. They match mine exactly, including value.

So...how much is missing...armature, slide, bumpers, brush cover, hood, figures, figure mount shaft, roller pickup, but the brakes are there.
    Unbelievable:
Item: Vintage Railroad Train Toy Lionel #50 Gang Car Post War Orange - Lot B. USED in as found condition from a local estate. May need cleaning or minor repair. Has not been track tested. Direct from a local estate.

Minor repair my hindquarters. This is one of those things you throw into the bottom of a box and give to someone..and let them throw it away.

    Opinion.

Price aside, after seeing so many crude creations, at least this one is nicely done.

Ha ha. Minor. Throw this in the parts bin, buy another which is complete and runs, to complete the repairs

ya know, a lot of this consignment and estate stuff sure seems to be the family trying to get rid of Grandpa's piles of junk and parts, not (hopefully) realizing they are not complete or functional.

I'd want to hope that any person helping sell estate items would try to accurately grade items, and also to inform the sellers they should not hope for riches which can never be realized.

Put it on the Bait, some clueless sucker will get into a bidding war for it, and you'll be RICH!

Two engines, one tender, cable reel car missing truck and plate, switch tower missing everything, TWO horse corrals, NO horse cars, milk car missing doors (and no platform), trailers missing roof(s), looks like he cornered the market on two dome tanks, switchman without building, no track, no power pack, "This a junker parts lot. Everything will have some sort of issue with broken or missing parts and may not be operational(not tested)."

    Fifty plus shipping? Seventy five?

I would not go any higher than fifty. Maybe even forty.

Town of sale tells it all.
Now, a 763 with tender, complete and running might be worth that in good condition with a box and all.
But, to be in pieces and he doesn't know if they are all there (and it's missing the armature at least...the motor shown is a vertical mount out of a later diseasemal).
NO tender, so it's even more partial.
    I don't know what it's worth as-is without seeing it, but a $3500 starting bid ain't it.
Maybe someone has an armature, parts, and a tender, and will give him 750 for it as is.
But come on, put it back together first, drag the tender out of storage, THEN list it.
Paint is pretty nicked and scratched, lettering on cab all but gone.
No pilot truck, front set of trailing truck wheels appear to be exploded and gone, nice broken headlamp bulb with glass bits in the pile of parts, not sure I see all the crankpin bolts for the side that's off, got brushes.....
    Opinion only.

Interesting. First, don't care what the loco is or how rare, it's pretty bad. Paint rubbed through, paint stained, one number board nicked pretty badly, horn bent down. But...it appears the chassis is very good as far as obvious wear, like maybe to make this set they slammed a clapped out CN FA shell onto the chassis. The chassis appears to be in as good a condition as the rolling stock.
Very strange, and based upon photos, no where near the starting bid (reserve) of 389...with no bids.
    Opinion.

Seller....whohasthemoststuffwins. Okay. Except he's got it a bit wrong. "He who dies with the most stuff...is dead"
BIN at 375...for a Scout style plastic clamshell motored kluge with plastic boiler shell. You can tell by the fibre fore and aft lever in top of the boiler.
Plain caboose, bend over tabs, no screws....throw away power pack...track not rusted to heck and begone, but who needs more 027 track?
The tank car....well, personally, I just give away double domed, but this may be the saving grace for collector "bidders":
Cities Services Green Tank Car, White Lettering - This is the most difficult version to locate as it was produced for only a single year: 1960.
Makes you wonder how a 1960-only production car ended up in a 1963 set? Since it's an uncatalogued set, who's to say?

Looks like fixed coupler cars, so another "no".
    Twenty bucks? Maybe?
