Cool, thanks for that tidbit. Searching eBay's help section and customer support turned up nothing. Cheers, Brian
You can send messages to sellers, but most likely they will just be ignored, or they will get defensive like this.
Because other than a source of cheap laughs, the other point of this thread is to help teach you how to be a good seller.
And to be a more aware buyer... bad sellers turn off good buyers, and possibly not just from eBay but from the hobby in general.
I love reading this thread just for a good laugh. There is always someone out there somewhere trying to swindle someone else out of a $1 or 2. Ryan
I know this isn't N scale..............but I am pretty sure this seller will trun a HEFTY profit on this IF he DOES sell it! http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Scale-MO...036162?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4d184ac942 Ryan
Would have tried to research whether that particular item, a Faller "Canal Lift Bridge," is discontinued. However... the same seller is asking same price ($500 + shipping) for a Walthers lift bridge. I think this is the same seller that was trying to get hundreds for (then) out of production Walthers N Scale kits as well. Then Walthers had to go ruin things by reissuing those kits...

I did send a message suggesting that if they want to continue to do this in future, they should at least include their shipping disclaimers in the actual item description where it can actually be seen by prospective buyers, instead of hiding it in oft overlooked Seller's payment instructions. My opinion of this kind of tactic is that people that use the axiom of buyer beware are justifying something they are doing that they know is not quite right and even offensive, but because they were still following Ebay's listing rules, that makes it alright in their mind. Since everyone has a right to do whatever they want, some feel entitled to step on others unfairly and then, in the mindset of a true capitalist, they are more than happy to point to the disclaimer and blame the buyer/victim for not seeing it. Usually the buyer didn't see it because the seller made every possible effort to conceal it, by only following the bare minimum requirements that Ebay has.
Here's one: If this is N scale then the detail is fantastic! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Chevy-SWB-truck-/261392422399?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3cdc33d5ff
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but these pictures are worth a darn! http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Sc-Freigh...922041?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4aa94c2e79
And these pictures tell you too much. Whats up with the paint in that second picture? I would try to straighten up those lines as well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...226414?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20d8cc616e
Better than some we have seen. Looks like the number boards were added. Being Bachmann, Rapido couplers, and not a very good paint job, it sure should not be at that price level.
Let's put some additional fresh air and light on this seller with the exact quote from the "Shipping And Payments" section... Not only rather outrageous, but appears to be written in a combination of English and LOLcat. U can not haz combined shipping!
"I do not combine shipping, When I sell units at list prices I do combine shipping..." ??? Either you do, or you do not. But this says you actually do. Make up your mind? Me exkaped frum skool.
Holy Crap! "...if I do combine shipping the answer would have been NO not on units with starting prices of $5.99 or lower " What? Does he not plan to sell it for more than the starting price???? "Yestardy i dreemd ov bing a celler on ebay today i r one!!! Wow, a true product of "No child left behind", sadness...
