Not too much humor in this item but I'd like opinions from the group on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kato-6-car-...428327?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e8716a9e7 I've had thoughts of doing something like this but does anyone else find the letting on some of the cars too large and the different spacing and sizes of the letters offsetting? Also, the paintwork looks a little sketchy and is that a fingerprint on "Silver Arrow?" Thanks, Andy Tetsu Uma
It looks relatively OK to me, Andy. The decal job could have been a little better, and the Material Handling Car is an Amtrak prototype. But it would work for someone invoking Rule #1. With respect to DrMb's post, "Chair Car" is a legitimate passenger car term, though in my UMTRR Research I've found it to be more synonymous with "Parlor Car" then "Coach." Not sure what the label on the Con-Cor box says on this one.
Woah, how did an entire sentence get tagged? And it links to a listing for a Chair Car Via Rail con cor couplers... Needless to say, the most this person will be getting from me, is neutral feedback, and I'm debating making it negative to send a message. Also, you would think that single list items would require less shipping, so it should be easier to combine the shipping on single items.
I did double check and Con-Cor does sell them as Chair Cars. The problem is, VIA never owned a stainless steel Chair/Parlor Car which is why I made the mistake.
I accept the fantasy factor as I had/have been thinking about doing a "What would Burlington Zephyrs look like now" with Superliner cars. What about the price and the quality of the paint/decals?
How's this for $400 big ones. (Plus another 50 to ship it all) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-lot-of...046669?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19e8b03dcd And a menagerie of older rolling stock for only $150. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bachmann-Li...683924?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3cdc194f14
And the sad thing is........there are 2 watchers on each of them. I wouldn't give him $50 for both lots! Its all B-mann junk!
Sure would be nice if we didn't need to strain our eyes, trying to guess what all is there to be certain. Why is it so difficult to list the contents?
That would take too long... Though not eBay humor specifically, there was an attempt last night to pass off Rivarossi E8s as "Micro-Trains FTs" on a Facebook group. The original poster wasn't happy when he got called out on it... even though he insisted we were wrong and he was right. Could the lack of MTL couplers on the diesels have been an indication, perhaps? My point is that Caveat Emptor applies to every selling venue. Let's be careful out there.
Certainly. What bothers me the most is newcomers who are shopping, and don't know enough about the hobby. They get burned, (such as by experts trying to peddle E8's as FTs), and we lose some of them. If only we could have a chance beforehand, to help get them pointed in the right direction.
I sold a MRC wireless throttle on the bay a while back and promptly got a call from the buyer who asked "what do I do with this thing?". I asked what do you mean? he said "well there is nothing to plug it into." I asked what system do you have? he said "system?" Enough said. I refunded the money and he sent it back. Really? a wireless system for $115.00??? :headspin: Oh well it re-sold today. Mike
I was poking around last night and saw a building starting at $0.99. As I looked closer there was a "Reserve Not Met". Really? Who uses reserve anymore? I just moved on. Not worth playing the reserve game. Why wouldn't a seller just start at the minimum they would accept?
