I always started my auctions with $0.99 with no reserve. It started some good bidding wars. I dont think I ever 'lost' $$$ on an item I sold. But them was the good old days. I dont ebay anymore. To many rules, fees, and BS. I do go read listing posted here though. There are some funny and stupid things going on.
Ebay and another train forum I read are my morning comics. Gotta have a good laugh to start the day...LOL :teeth:

The only reason I can think of is that a listing like that would still appear in searches where a low price range is specified (i.e. "only show me items that are $10 or less").

Otherwise, with listing fees largely abolished I don't know why this still occurs. I haven't checked lately but I thought eBay charged more for listings that had reserves, in order to discourage the practice.

The seller really does not want to sell it. Most likely told the spouse that he/she was going to sell stuff on the bay so the spouse would stop complaining about the amount of stuff he/she has. When the item, if bid on, does not meet the reserve he/she can say no one wanted the stuff.

The down side of this, is how that information is presented to the spouse. She might believe since nobody wanted it, those items are worthless, and can be dumped. Oops! I knew someone who had this happen....

At least the starting price is low enough. Instead of being $299.95....

Well my original Class A's were built on SW chassis until I repowered them and managed to get some proper Climax sideframes on them from castings. And there were some repowered Class A's that received a gasoline or small diesel connected to the gearbox in the 1 to 1 world. And at some point during the last years of the small manufacturers Hiesler, Davenort, and Porter all teamed up to create some small power although all was in the form of conventional small switchers. By then though all of the companies were long out of steam

It does have water tanks on the front..Actually,if he did a little better job on locating the cab,and made the coal bunker/cab one piece,it woulda been half decent.

Yep. Ok. Your right. At first glance it looked like the saddle tanks were wood planks..

I could be wrong, but it seems I recall that somebody made a conversion kit to make these sometime in the 70's . Athearn SW chassis with this shell on it ?????....Mike

Oh Roundhouse did something like this too, but it looked lots better.
