Comes with a wrap around mirror so the engineer and fireman can tell if the new coveralls make their backsides look too big.

I wonder if anyone bothers to scroll down the page? If so, there are always similar items listed. Funny to see prices such as $9.99......

Well, George.... A rich RV railroad owner like you, I thought sure you'd be bidding! You need to spend more time on that auction site, and less time wearing out brass diesel power pickup parts!

    Yea....let me think...hmmmm.

Lets see...I could buy a ton of new MT cars. They would then be "Sold Out" and 'No longer available' thus making them extremely desireable, rarer yet and priceless. I could then put em on that auction site @ $300.00 ea.....and in 3 months I will be buying a private island somewhere and living the good life !!

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

I would give this guy the benefit of the doubt and say it has to be a mistake on his part on the listing price as his other auctions are more inline (on the high side, but more inline). If not, then you can buy the same car (weathered COG boxcar) for $23.99 or a find an identical listing with 4 of them for $25.99 each with free shipping....but those exact same cars don't come with the "Rare Discontinued" language that adds 1000% to the price!

By the way, I'm considering this this forum post to be "Rare" and "Discontinued" - I'm putting it on Ebay with a starting price of $10,000. PM me and I can send you a Rare and Discontinued response for a much lost cost as Trainboard members.

It was probably supposed to be $21.60 not $216.00.

Meanwhile... I suppose this was meant to be 'reasonable,' but this entry hits the Trifecta for me:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/181365654755?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

    1) Only one picture. Not a really good one at that.
    2) Shipping too high -- $6 for "standard" when I know this car will weigh around three ounces in a padded envelope going first class. This would not require an additional four dollars worth of bubble wrap.
    3) Payment within 24 hours or item will be relisted. Some of us pay immediately but some of us have lives.

I dunno. A padded envelope? I've never shipped that way, after seeing personally how packages can be handled behind the counter. I've received several items sent to me that way, results were not always good. Postage plus the price of a padded envelope. Don't know how much is really being saved, plus taking a chance. I'd rather have a box used. USPS rates, as well as the others, keepi going up, up, up.

Agreed. That is an absolutely ridiculous requisite.

I have to agree....padded envelopes are recipes for disaster.

Really, folks will complain regardless....shipping is too high....wait, my jewel case got crushed in an envelope....IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!

I actually had a buyer one time purchase a 8 x 10 photo from me. I packaged it in what the USPS says is a "photo envelope." About 3 days after I shipped it I get this nasty e mail from him saying the package was wet and folded and the photo was ruined. I offered to send him another photo at no cost to him as well as give him a 100% refund. He replied back to me a big NO THANKS! Keep your f#$%ing money!

    Sometimes you just cant win!

We'll agree to disagree on the padded envelope. I haven't lost one yet, coming or going. Proper packing of what's inside the envelope is key.

Putting many things (but NOT that V-Line hopper) in a box pushes the weight past the 13 ounce maximum for First Class - which means zoned USPS Rates, unless it either fits in a flat rate PM box or you can get creative. That leads the discussion already held several times here as to whether it's worth paying $6 shipping for one freight car. For me, it's not. Your mileage may vary.

In addition, the original item listing didn't say "Priority Mail" or anything like that, just "Standard Shipping" for $6. If I'm paying that, I want Priority Mail flat rate specified and used, not the amorphous "standard shipping." I prefer sellers that don't make shipping into a profit center.

So you have shipped and/or received N scale freight cars in those envelopes? May I ask how you pack it inside? I was a sort supervisor for one of the big small package companies and I would not have thought that would survive the trip. I'm guessing that maybe First Class mail gets handled/sorted differently than small packages?(I've no idea never been inside a USPS facility). As far as shipping charges, that's the main reason I frequent my LHS. I absolutely hate paying shipping for 1 freight car. Won't do it. But I am lucky enough to have not 1, 2, but 3 local hobby shops within 5 miles of my place. One of those seems to be always buying collections so a nice assortment of older out of production offerings that keep my retirement account from gaining money.
