Just a quick update...the CSW was dismantled at 1400 hours mountain time yesterday [IMG], turned on its side and moved to a staging area for the move to its new home with NO damage [IMG]!! So far so good!! Happy Modeling,
    John

It's only a 4 x 8 foot, but there are some VERY high mountains [IMG]!! If it survives it will have been an easy move...if it doesn't well the move was tough!!b bIf you would like to see the layout go to

    Good luck and Happy Modeling!!

Sounds like you lucked out... If you would have built that 46x62 empire it might have been a different story!

Yeah you're right about that!! I think that once the old CSW is in its new home I am going to expand...in 2 foot removable sections [IMG]!! Happy Modeling !!

    John,
I didn't see a layout diagram on your layout, but I could be blind [IMG]
Have you considered using a variation of David Barrow's domino sections?
I'm moving myself in a few weeks, and the layout's gonna be smaller [IMG] but I'll be able to use it for refining my modeling skills, plus get rid of the last of my code 100 track, converting 100% to codes 83 and 70.

    Bob,
Where are you moving to? Across town , or out of state?? There is a diagram on my construction page of the website [IMG]!! Even if it survives the move, it will probably serve as the railroad only 'till the new one is built...the domino concept sounds good...where do I find info on it?? Happy Modeling and good luck with the move!!

On the new P:87 layout i plan on using the domino method for the layout sections themselves. I won't use the individual domino leg system though. When i have to move the layout in the future i'll build the appropriate benchwork leg sections. I think i'll have to make some of the sections odd sizes, but i'll see what happens...

MR has pushed the Domino system quite heavily as has the Model Railroader Planning(?) annual but i don't know the exact issues with the articles. If someone else doesn't provide it i will look it up.

    John,
I'm moving east in the Grand Valley to a townhouse my wife and I are buying. No basement, alas, but my layout is sectional in nature, so I'll use most of my sections for a layout along two walls (three, if I can sweettalk the missus) of our bedroom. This should give me the opportunity to get rid of the last of my code 100, and stay with code 83 and 70 all the way.
I'll go back & check out your website again. I was going to have my last layout on
my website, but I'll hold off until I get the new pike up & running to add a diagram...

    Bob,
Sounds like a good move for you also [IMG] ...I get 1/2 of a garage, which was not what I lobbied for, but it is at least a larger area than I had before [IMG]. Since i have more space, I think it is time to expand the layout, using the domino method (thanks Tunnel 88), and incorporate what survives of the original CSW. Look for new pics on my website about Christmas time (if all goes well [IMG]!!). Good luck and Happy Modeling!!
