You're 42 and had Mr Rogers as a kid... Wow. I didn't know he went back that far, I'm only 26 and _I_ had Mr Rogers too! Don't mess with the sweater! I've always wanted to own a replica of Mr Trolley. There is a listing for a G-Scale Mr Trolley every so often on ebay, But I think that the actual trolley was O-Scale, not G-scale unless that can be confirmed otherwise. The size of it didn't look like 1:32 at it's bare minimum.
Some things of which I also remember even!! I'll be 42 in October. But, from what I recall, the Trolley sure looked like it was G Scale. Think MR did an article on Mr Rogers some years back. Had more to do with HO trolley and city scene, that you saw at start of show. Will have to see if more info can be found now, as this has gotten my curiousity now!
I'm currently trying to restore this rusted out VW Microbuss and that link just got the song stuck in my head. Next thing I know I'm randomly singing it. You know how long that's going to take to remove it from my brain
Aww the memories. One of the best children's programs to have hit the TV. How lucky we were to have such a neighbor.
That trolley was my favorite part of the show. Funny thing is that as a kid I never realized the subtle (or not?) movement of Mister Rogers left hand to the switch on the side of his bench that controlled the trolley. I could swear I saw a short documentary that explained the trolley was actually custom made but I couldn't remember scale. Obviously from the pics it's close to G. With a little help from Google, there's an article that gives credit for the trolley's creation to Bill Ferguson of Toronto, CA. -Mike
This is the best shot I could find of the track - does this provide any clues? Doesn't look like anything standard you'd find for G scale, but then again I'm not a G-Pro like you guys. The color of the rails is consistent with brass that you'd find though on G Scale? Mike
I think that the trolley may be a modified version of one of the LGB Trolleys. It fits the profile of the ones they offered for sale back in the 70s when LGB Began.
Did some googling, turned up a thread from trains.com. It's from 2004, so I doubt the web article addressed is still online, but it kept calling out that the Trolley was Customed out fo wood by a model maker in Toronto (the original site of the production of Misterrogers Neighborhood [And I did not misspell that]) and it was nearly G scale.
