I got mine yesterday for $34 at Best Buy too, just to find out that I need a new video card :(
I have a Diamond Viper330 (2 years old), but I assume I can use any "modern" video cards with 3D acceleration.

This is pretty interesting ... I have yet to be able to figure out how to get some of the trains to move!

What hardware do you have ?

I have a 450MHz PII, 128Mb ram, and soon a new video card. I hope that is sufficient to run the program.

That should be okay Jesper. You can lessen the graphics quality to help it along if you have to.

I am running it on my laptop ... Dell Inspiron 850 MHz, 15 inch monitor, 32 gig hard drive, the best video card availale for the laptop, Harmon Kardon sound. It's running quite nicely on my end. [IMG]

Got a new "Ge2Force MX" video card yesterday, so I was runnng trains for about 2 hours last night. But I have to set the details to low if I want a smooth running train, so I guess next step is to upgrade my 450MHz to something closer to a Gig :-(
It's always like that isn't it.

What driver do you have installed?? The latest one is 4.12.01.0650. Also, what color is the icon in the tool tray??

I will check tonight when I get home. I think the color of the icon is blue, but I'm not sure. Does the updated driver make a big difference ?

So far the only problem I'm having is when I go into winter mode. I get an error message and the whole thing shuts down. Anyone else with this problem? By the way, I was fortunate to get mine from Comp USA for $29.95.

I gotta say guys, I got the sim for Father's Day and I'm not impressed. I've got lot's of respect for the real engineers out there, but I find this as exciting as watching paint dry. The way I figure it, I got a screen saver for a gift. I just leave it on demo mode and turn the sound down. Zzzzzzzzzzz....

From what I hear, I am pleased I didn't go for it. In Canada the best price so far is $69.99. Someone is ripping us off as even with the difference of the value of our dollar $69.99 is too much.

    Craig,

I paid $150.00 for mine. I am not a gamer. I got it do do graphics. It has 32MB RAM. I also have 384MB RAM on the 'puter. I spent about 4 months looking around before I bought mine. I could have bought a better one for the money but then would have the fight with the software. Word on the sytreet is that Nvidia has the best chip. I will not recommend a certain one to avoid a flame war :D.

I got a copy for Father's Day as well. I had to lessen the graphics too. The game said I did not have the latest video card. I am still running it well on my machine and the graphics seem fine. Don't feel bad. I have a Gateway tower, with 700mhz Athalon (sp?) processor, 128mb of ram and 30gig hard drive. It is only one yr old and was had the latest and greatest video card at the time as my kids play lots of games. Go figure. I guess I may have to buy another video card.
