I will post the roundhouse photos that didn't load in the next update. I should have a lot of time to work on the layout in the next few weeks so the next update should be soon.

As as a fan of Otto Perry's work I'm glad my black and white photo reminded you of him.

    Thanks,
    Alex

Another B&W view. Cool! Really sets a mood, which takes a person back in time.

Greetings everyone, it has been a long time since my last post but such is the life of a college student trying to build a model railroad whenever he returns home while also juggling the social and work aspects of coming home. This model railroad was designed to eventually be moved and this maybe one of my big future projects.

Anyways I wanted to share some quick photos of the layout recently. I have held some jobs the past few summers and I have been able to expand my collection as of recent but not much model progress has been made. I have also finally been able to work on the roundhouse and turntable, a task which has been very daunting for me. With out further ado, here is my update:

Photo 1: The roundhouse is a Model Masterpieces craftsman kit of the Como roundhouse. Painting this model was a lot of fun. The prototype is actually six stalls but I had to reduce the stalls. My issue has been getting the turntable to work/balance/spin/level and it has been my most frustrating task.

Photo 2: The front of the roundhouse with a locomotive line-up. From left to right: Key C&S 58, Blackstone D&RGW 345, Blackstone D&RGW 346, and Key C&S 71

Photo 3: C&S #9 (Key) takes a spin (at least attempted) on the turntable. This is all of my HOn3 motive power other than a PFM C&S Consolidation which is in pieces as I try to learn how to rebuild a brass locomotive.

Photo 4: C&S 9 pulls a passenger train with some recently acquired coaches.

Photo 5: C&S 9 with the same train eases over the palisades.

Photo 6: The passenger train soars above Clear Creek on the Devils Gate viaduct.

Photo 7: A model acquired on eBay for $20.00. Not completely prototypical but I needed a baggage car and I couldn't seem to track down a Precision Scale C&S baggage #13. This was a lot easier than scratch building as well.

Photo 8: Well a few months after I found this coach I was able to purchase (finally) a Precision Scale C&S #13 RPO/Baggage Car. It took a few years of searching but I finally found one for a reasonable price. Just a beautiful model and very rare as well as only 200 were made.

That's it for this update, if anyone has words of advice for the turntable, it would be much appreciated.

    Alex

Alex, send me a PM with an email. I have an idea for you you might try on the turntable. A phono plug..
