Mystery Car (to me)

    Can someone help me identify these cars? I think I know what they are for but I would like it confirmed and what line owns them. Also, if anyone has better pictures with markings and/or with loads I would like to see those.

    Yes. The pic was shot in Ft. Madison, Ia.

    But it's a fair question which has been asked before. This is, after all, the road that put 20,000 gallon water capacity tenders behind some of their 2-6-2 types. They were clearly not afraid of the tail wagging the dog.

    I suppose they could be used for treated ties too. I have only seen treated ties in gondolas... but that was years ago before these new cars existed.
