Been there in ice storms. That is no fun. Here we don't even consider it has snowed unless it is over 5-6 inches but back there it doesn't take much to really screw things up.

We hope the weather clears a bit and you are home by this afternoon :),

Boxcab, I don't mind your question. Yes she will eventually get free of the tracheotomy device. From what I understand they are going to reduce the size of the device and let the incision heal on itself. It will take awhile to do it but at least she will be home.

    Day 42,

Here we go again, Cynthia will not be able to go home today. We were waiting on two doctors and a pulmonary technician to give us the last lesson on tracheotomy care at home. Also the medical supply company closes at 5:00pm and we have to have a home nurse come to our apartment to setup the equipment needed. The pulmonary technician is supposed to come by the room at 10:30am. Once all of that happens Cynthia will get to go home. Wares me out just thinking about it. LOL

Good grief. :censored: Delays, delays. I can understand how and why they are being so meticulous, yet......

    Day 43,

Cynthia will have to stay in the hospital for awhile because she has a blockage in her throat from being intubated three times with the ventilator tube in her mouth. The doctor said they would run a camera in her throat to see how bad the blockage is sometime in the near future.

Seems like it is one thing or another keeps happening to prevent her from going home. Needless to say we are disappointed with the news.

Damn, that's disappointing for you both. I guess the consolation is they are being cautious , which is better than the opposite!

Hate to read that Joe. Hang in there, it's taking longer than you want but when the day she gets to head home comes, it will just be that much better. Praying for you both.

Thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers. I know Cynthia will be able to go home eventually, it's just a matter of time. Every day is one closer to the discharge date.

We have a large prime rib that we were going to have for our Christmas dinner and will eat it the day after she gets home since she was in the hospital for the holidays.

    Day 44,

Cynthia will have the camera done tomorrow to see what the blockage looks like. She is very mad because of all of the delays that keep coming up. It seems they are dragging their feet, they should have known about the blockage before now.

I find myself in agreement here. They should have looked at all of her neck, etc.

    Day 46,

Cynthia had the camera procedure done yesterday afternoon and we will probably get the results Monday. A doctor came by about 1:00pm and said that his directive is to get Cynthia home. At last some progress on ending this nightmare. She is more than ready!!!
