Very nice! I’m oh so envious. I try to avoid these long threads, but I just took a peek at only a couple of pages when I saw this. My jaw dropped and I knew I wanted one of these. I especially like the engineer.
Do I spot something familiar in that picture..?? :tb-biggrin: I am glad to see that the B&O shell gets a "second life". Cheers Dirk
The shields in front of the horns keep the bugs out. If you've ever driven through Wisconsin near marshy area's you know why! I believe the one on the nose is suppossed to create an airstream to keep bugs away from the windshield.
Too bad MILW wasn't around when bug shields came out for trucks... Could you imagine a clear, green/blue shield on the nose?
That's some serious bling there Bill. Awsome work! Looking forward to seeing it in living color. Here's my latest project... Milwaukee ten wheeler And compared to an Atlas/ RR 2-8-2 Jim
Not much different than before except the HO loco is done and the remotors are fairly deep in process. The Faulhaber motor originally intended for the Rivarossi Pacific was too slow. It was a 15V motor and just didn't have enough speed. I replaced it with a 1219 coreless from Motorman and it is still a bit slow, but not as bad. The decoder is a OEM Bachmann from a Heavy Mountain that I had laying around. I digitrax will go in it's place later as the slow speed motor control on this decoder, although very good, is noisy. The 2-10-0 has been remotored with a Kato GM-5 out of a Mikado. Somebody showed a shot of this being done a few weeks back on the Atlas forum with a plain GM-5 motor. I had a spare Mikado parts donor frame laying around and figured the flywheel would make things that much better. It looked amost factory and an easy swap.....it's not. The GM-5 motor is about a .5mm too long and the bearing caps are larger than the Trix motor. Everything had to be dremeled to fit, but once it is done, it does make a very nice install. I still need to find a worm gear. The install on Atlas looked to be done with a red plastic worm.
This little guy is on my workbench... This picture is of the interior. I painted the rest of the kit today while they are stil lin the carriers. This is only my second laser kit and it's kind of difficult for me. I'm having fun though. The front of the building is rather delicate. Here is what it's suppose to look like when complete... I'll post more pictures of the progress unless it ends up in the trash can.
Just came out of the train room. Decaling 3 cars. However...in and hour and a half I completed the equivalent of ONE CAR....^&*%^$#$%...and I was going pretty good too, er I thought. NP 'chip cars'. No 'NORTHERN PACIFIC' lettering quite the correct size and 5 numbers and the NP puts them on both ends. &*(^&%. One letter at a time and lots of #'s. Grrrrr. And I did not even get started on the WP.....
Just finished my pike size ATSF passenger train the "CHICO":tb-biggrin: The CHICO train#191/200 - TrainBoard.com
Anyone remember my sucky first attempt at the Alaska F7 that ran in Central MA? I hated the weathering so much I stripped the shell and started over. I'm still not happy with the somewhat ragged edge of the blue under the cab, but I'm going to quit while I'm ahead.
Some new vehicles painted up. I finished the NHN shells. This old scheme is waiting for a donor chassis. the newer scheme was lightly weathered. I still need to add a bit of grime to the trucks and fueltank.
On my workbench: working on this kitbash of an Atlas C630 into an IC C636. Still have some major truck/sideframe work to complete but much of the body work, detailing and weathering is complete.
Wow, a lot of work going on. Nice to see others "slice & dice" This pair just came out of the paintshop....a pair of "Poogy's" My Gevo just arrived and is already painted. Hope to have FCL #1440 decaled by the end of this week. Jerry G.
