Tim I don't understand why I can't view your photos. Whats that mean "upgrade to Plus"? Do I have to do that to view your photo?
Just click on the "Look Who's Popular" photobucket icons. It will take you to the image on his photobucket page ;-)
ready for painting today... after that, moving the last piece of old furniture out of the hobby room...next weekend, weather permitting, the room gets its new coat of paint-officially becoming "The Turquoise Room"! ~Bruce
Bruce, this is turning out nice! Especially like the background, looks suspiciously like Mission Tower:teeth: Otto K.
Otto!...lol... Seriously, never considered NOT making that my current wallpaper! Can you blame me? ~Bruce
Lol, not at all. Me, I'm learning to paint Eucalyptuses.. There were a bunch behind the UP helper facilities in San Bernardino.... The engine facilities were kind of cool and very modelable: a two track house, a service track for sand, diesel fuel and bunker C oil, and a set out track. Fun stuff! Otto K.
painted and weathered slightly (a thin black wash based on Testors enamel thinner/brush cleaner)... I also am using NZT battery boxes here as I had them in my stash.... Now that these are done (Phewwww!)...i can proceed on weathering the track and starting to rough in the styrofoam land forms... Thanks for looking, ~Bruce
Just put the shapeways high noses on my SD40-2 and GP38-2. Now need to clean the 3D printed parts and strip the paint for a new so these Norfolk Southern units can be painted up!
Nice. Does the shapeways cab have the Dash 2 cab? I found when browsing that they were similar but not correct.
What do you mean? These are the only high nose cabs that I could find, aside from making them myself, I figured they are close enough for my taste. What would make them correct? I could always try to modify them.
The cabs are the same and different between different 40 series engines. The differences are in the brake (ratchets vs. wheel), nose length, bell, horn and grab iron placement as well as classification and head lights. Numberboards can vary too. It all depends on which railroad ordered them. The -2's tend to have an electrical box behind the conductors side of the cab, .10" square styrene does the trick. That cab will do well for you unless you are a huge rivet counter (I am, and I still used up a few of them).
Oh, thats what you meant, yeah, I am using the electrical box from the original SD40-2 cab on my high nose SD40-2. I double checked, both high hoods have the right arrangements for both locomotives I am making.
