Flash...why not use BOTH! Change em out now and then. That way it always looks 'different' and more of a conversation piece...JMO

I've got 50 Dimi-Trains sugar beet cars I need to decal. Unfortunately, I need to paint 32 of them, and I don't have an airbrush. Eventually....

How can you do sea salt weathering to a car you did not paint with the rust color first? I ask the question based on the Tom Mann technique. Also, I recognize the car as a commercial product.

All of this aside, it sure looks good! I want to be able to do that, too!

Adding air hoses (BLMA) and cab sunshades (GMM).

Now I check for nose headlights, normally aspirated, air filter box, etc., etc. It never ends!

Working on an SD59M-2/SD32ECO rebuild. Haven't gotten far enough to get worthwhile pics. I've removed the radiator sections from an Atlas SD60M and Kato SD70M shells. Then I started to shorten the Kato radiator grills but they came out BAD. Once I get a few minutes I'll re-do the grills with the Atlas ones. After the radiator will be the brake assembly and equipment box behind the cab. I'll also have to rebuiild the cab as the 2 window cab has upper lights and the proto has nose lights like the 3 window cab.

I have some Cincinnati railroad based engines that Skipgear and I were working on at one time. I wouldn't mind restarting that project. :)

Beautiful work!! I have a few DPM kits that I would like to paint with similar colors. What colors did you use?

Thanks!

I paint them first in a beige color.

Then, I put some dark grey spots on several stones.

I put a wash with black and dark grey over the walls.

This is the result.

Those are some awesome looking buildings Thieu!

Well Thanksgiving has passed. Pretty soon, if not already, the relatives will be heading back to their home planets. :p

Did anyone discover any workbench projects while showing off the layout to the relatives this holiday?

Nice job Dan. Love the Sp there Flash.

I have started some weathering on 10 cars. Painted and added some textureing to the trucks and couplers, Then took the first step in fading the paint. Next I intend to add pits and streaking to the sides followed by the roof treatment. Its difficult to se the fading in the photos but in person it is quite effective.

Kato SD45 upgrade

Right now I have 3 x of my new Kato SD45's sitting on my "not so tidy" workbench
These locos have had a bit of a write up on TB, but I'm pretty happy with mine
All three units at this point:
- Have been repainted and new D&RGW billboard logo applied. The font & sizing on the factory paint job was not quite right. All units also renumbered + number boards printed resized and glued in place
- Detail associates nose lights fitted & a drop of silver paint in the lens
- Factory snow plows removed (and dropped in the bin) :pwink: then Sunrise + BLMA plows prepainted & installed
- BLMA cab sunshades + MU Hoses painted + fitted
- Step grabs painted white to match the prototype
- MT #1015's fitted
- Bodies have received a light initial weathering to different degrees so they don't look the same
- While the sideframes and fuel tank are separate from the body & chassis, I weathered them with my airbrush & pastel chalks
- One thing I'd never done before but tried this time was I also touched up the brass contact pickup strips + axle bearings with NeoLube so the brass isn't as noticeable
