    Hello,

My dad (in his late sixties) mentioned that he got a train from his dad ( my grandfather) that he used as a boy (this is how we came up with roughly the 1920's.

It ran somewhat recently and for no apparent reason has stopped. A quick look at the bottom reveals that one of the contact points with middle rail has fallen off.

What I'd really like to do is get it running again for my dad to see, so any info on manufacturer, likely fixes, etc. would be great!

I have attached some photos below.

    Thank you for any help.

The first clue is that it's an Ives is the name on the side.
The number also helps to identify it as being built 1919-27.
    Some list 1918-1925.
Parts can be difficult, but modifying a Lionel pickup should not be too hard.
    However:
Your failure most likely is the one intact centre rail roller.
The rivet has worked out the side and is shorting against the frame.
Press it back in and try again.
If that works, solder the rivet to the clip.

IO1246 Collector Assembly Ives O gauge double roller collector assembly, type 2 motor.

    Out of Stock
    Price: $12.00

I will have to PM you the contact info. They don't advertise here, I don't think. This outfit makes parts, so "out of stock" may be fleeting. Call them.

    Thank you very much.

I will check out the site and give that a try.

With only one contact, will it still work well?

Other than switches, where you have gaps, should work.
    Worth a test.
