ARRRRRRGH!!! What happened to the "data only" version THIS time, Craig? I LIKE your cars, but if they aren't ever coming in the version I want, I need to take advantage of some other option before it disappears.

Let me ask you this, are you planning on lettering your cars for a fictional line/coal company, or a prototype that you think we won't make?

    Hi Craig,

I want to letter them for a fictional short line.

What a relief, those Virginian cars were retired by my era. Atlas' rerun of Trainmasters and VGN hoppers in the same quarter would demolish my wallet!

Just to confirm, the numbers in a 3-pack are different than the numbers in a 2-pack or 1-pack, correct? (ie- producing 6 individual numbers) Thanks for the CEI cars, and in an early paint scheme to boot.

That's correct Tom....ALL multipacks have different road numbers. When we rerun a roadname they will have still different numbers and maybe different schemes.

Craig, Since you apparently are not going to make "data only" versions any time soon, I am reconsidering my options for 2-bay open hoppers. If I buy some of yours in a road name that I am not interested in, how easy/hard is it to remove the lettering? Is it pad printing? Is it sealed after printing? I don't want to mar the cars trying to remove the road name, reporting marks and numbers.

They are pad printed. I would suggest getting the Charleston & Western Carolina cars http://www.bluford-shops.com/bluford_93_037.htm and blacking out the C&WC reporting marks and the tiny text above it. That would ostensibly give you a dimi data car.

Craig, you didn't answer about whether the pad printing is sealed after printing. When you write "blacking out" the reporting marks, I am wondering if that is because they are sealed with a clear over-coat, and thus hard to remove with the usual Disol trick.

They are not over-sprayed, I just think blacking out the unwanted lettering would be easier. To each his own...

I saw the thread title and thought "Oh good, more hoppers" and I was not disappointed. Perhaps I'll pick up some of the NP ones for interchange :)
