Think I'll call my mother. Have her find my childhood crayons. Am going to start designing new "logos" for railroads. It's obviously not something that requires much skill. Boxcab E50
ARGH!!! My wife thinks it looks modern and sleek and she likes it. Since she is the CFO of my railroad, if Kato makes an ES44DC, I may have to get one. (besides, it may end up in my paint shop for a proper H2 scheme). Even though it doesn't look nearly as bad, I generally agree with SLSF Freak's sentiments.
Ive heard of railroads simplifying their paint schemes to save money. Doesn't look to be the case with BNSF...........paint them up like a Rembrandt. Complex and not too pretty.
Well i'm probably not going to be well liked for this but I kind of like the new logo. The old one was boring to me. However I dont like how it appears on the nose of the locomotives. Just my opinion so dont throw me to the dogs. Steve [ March 11, 2005, 10:55 AM: Message edited by: Steve Brown ]
I am beginning to like the logo a little more. But I have to agree with Steve Brown, the side logo is OK, but the nose logo needs to be reworked, maybe a modernization of the cigar band, but keep the essentials and essence of it.
Well.......... It does not look quite so bad to me now as it did at first. I guess you can get used to something new eventually! Certainly looks spiffy whilst nice and clean and shiny
I agree, it doesn't look so bad. I'm just bitter at the complete loss of everything Santa Fe. I mean hell, they only had the most recognized paint scheme in the World. One of the oldest names left in the buisness. Something that even non train people recognize. Lets dump all that for schemes that only train nerds know and a fancy new meaningless logo.
41 million? What cost 41 million?? Tell me the design itself did not cost the company 41 million! I would have done it for them for 30 million! Russ
Here is my first catch as #7687 pulled into town with the 36-axle Schnabel Rail Car on April 15, 2005.
I was the guy in the Gray/Silver Jeep Cherokee that kept getting lost a few times not knowing the route all that well and was mainly taking video on a Tripod as seen below.
I don't understand how anobody couldn't like the BNSF 'new image'. I think it's the best thing BNSF ever did. It looks so much better than H2.
I actually do like it now, it looks really nice in person. I had one sighting and thought that is cool. The H2 was a bit loud, still think the red though would have looked better than orange.
