Hi all, I am new in this group, living in Germany, Europe, some 90 km south-east of Frankfurt/Main, originating from Austria, Europe. In 1958, I received my first Model Railroad, a Märklin set in H0 and 18V AC. I am a mechanical engineer and worked all my professional life in Hydraulics. With age 70, I am retired for the last 3 years and spend quite some times with model railroading. At present, I have a BananaPi with Rocrail and MRSystem installed, via a CAN-Hat I connect to a Märklin-Gleisbox (60113) to run with DCC, MM(1+2) and mfx-Protocol. All computers, handheld and smartphones are connected via LAN or WLAN. At present, I am interested in DCC++ to replace the present equipment and run Rocrail on a RaspberryPi4 connected to an Arduino (UNO or MEGA) as a Track Format Processor (TFP) and a motor shield to provide power to the main and track and a separate programming track. However, it would be nice to also have Motorola commands (as predominantly used by Märklin) also included in the DCC++-setup. Anybody who has any information on this please email me ( LedLib@yahoo.com )! Possibly Dr. Geoff Bunza could be a valid source, however I do not know how to contact him. While surfing the net I came to this board. Best regards Alf
Welcome aboard, Alf! I spent 5 years not far from where you are now, in the Kaiserslautern area. I loved my time in Germany very much. We have a DCC sub-forum with plenty of expertise.
Welcome aboard Alf, I am kind of close to you, living in KL area. Unfortnately not so confident with electronics.
Welcome to TrainBoard, Alf Sen. We have a group of very talented and knowledgeable people here. I am sure they will try to help you. I model in the arcane omega scale and use no electronics and at this point, not even electricity.
