    Greetings,

So - I can still remember when my dad came home from Germany with the wooden imitation cardboard box of the Märklin Z-scale starter gift set for my 8th birthday. I still have it but now in much more battered state from many years of extensive wear and tear...

About the same time came of course the first dreams of a big layout... Dreams, that for for a lot of reasons - like space, money, education, family, life, etc - never happened. But, the dream is still alive and now that my own kids have left the nest it is more present than in a very long time.

And on top of that - Z-scale now has so much more to offer than back in the 70's. Things that I need to understand and see how they fit into the grand scheme of things. :)

Anyway, I'll probably lurk around here for a while - like a few months, a year or 10 years - but eventually I'll get around to start building that elusive grand dream!

    Cheers, Gunnar from Gothenburg, Sweden.

Hi Gunnar, welcome. Glad to have you on board. I salute Z Scale as your scale of choice. Though please look at the forums of other scales. Creative ideas are never defined by scale, but by the imagination of the artist, and we have many talented artists.

Gunnar, greetings from another "neighbour" - I'm in Germany, the home of Z-gauge! I'm also new to the board.
I started in Z-gauge over 30 years ago, but stopped development when I'd laid down a good, operable track layout with tunnels, bridges and a station and engine shed, but hadn't yet built the town that the station was to serve. Then I got sidetracked into scratch-building toy trains on 0-gauge for the children.
So maybe we can re-start in 1:220 scale together!
    Cheers,
    Jed
