Randy, if it is train related,we want to see them. If its one Tim's secret projects, then we want to see them even more.
John, It has to do with wrong etched "A" & "B" bodies to the Maxi III set. The "A" & "B" parts we recieved are not the right parts. We recieved the etched bodies to Harald's regular Gunderson Husky. The single well car. NO! It is not possible. I know what you are thinking. The answer is NO. Harald has re-designed his single Husky and not all the parts are present to make 2 extra Husky's. Good idea though. But NO! Hobo Tim
John, the photos are from a visit to the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, GA. Still haven't gotten them uploaded yet and we have a train show this weekend so it maybe next weekend before I get to it. Good news is I can pick up my camera from the repair shop tomorrow so i don't have to use my wife's anymore. I didn't really see any secret projects at Tim's. He has showed us pretty much everything he is working on or at least told us about them. Tim did show me lot's of reference photos of future project ideas. Not only is he a great craftsman, but he is very organized with his research, too. It takes me forever to find the reference material that i have lurking in the depths of my basement. ;-) Randy
Tim, I think I have the single Huskys also. I check it against my FR Huskys, and the A and B cars look like carbon copies. The A and B cars should have a long end, and a short end for he articulation. Its that right? I dont have the Maxi III to compare it with.
Maxi III John, you are correct. The "A" & "B" should have one end short and one end long. Harald has acknowledged the boo-boo and is getting the correct etching, will ship to us soon! Hobo Tim
It just gives me more time to figure how to modified them for tight radius operation. As much I wanted to get the rtr version, I needed them to run throughout te layout and not just my broad curves.
11-16-06 Update! Since posting this message thread, I have revised the drawing once and sent it to a professional etcher. I recieved an email today with some concerns on parts of the program. Some items not thick enough and not enough fret support. No worries. I etched the revision program in brass yesterday only to find more areas I need to tweek. Getting closer though. Sorry I don't have any photos to show. If the second revision turns out ok I'll take a few photos and post them in this thread. Crossing my fingers! Hobo Tim
Test Etch #3, Rev 2, 48' Thrall Well Car Here is the 3rd Test Etching of a 48' Thrall Well Car. I decided to shoot some cheap spray paint on the body. Nothing fancy. Still need to do a few minor tweeks to some of the details. Other than that, ready to go! Tell me what you think! There you have it, the 3rd Test Etch close up! Hobo Tim
Tim they look great have you thought about etching the version that holds just a 40' or 2 20' containers in the well
I really enjoy the amount of modeling that goes on here. This makes me want more and more Z stuff. Incredible modeling Tim!
Tim, Those are awesome! I love it! I can't wait to see photos once you have it lettered. Keep up the great work! Rob
These are awesome! Count me in! I think I want five RTR, and I want to contract with you to do a few five unit sets. Just a SLIGHT redesign of a few ends, right? mg: What do you think?
