I have decided to destroy my layout, i will of course keep the houses, electronic's. etc... The reason i am destroying it is becauce, there is too much fault's on it. Like to sharp curbes, unreliable turnouts (Marklin) and generally poor trackwork... It is a little sad to do it, but the new layout will be GREAT!!!!

Here is the temporarly track plan http://bp0.blogger.com/_--SDGO1bI68/Rhj_mPuauEI/AAAAAAAAAB8/zjYgHqqCTuw/s1600-h/ANLEGGpaint.bmpThe size is 340 cm long and 40 cm wide. As you can see i have based the 2 middle modules on the zmod standard ( the trackplan is NOT accurate! It is just temporarly..) The 2 modules on the right and left in the pic is going to be "my standar" but it will fit Zmodules.

As for turnouts i will use Wright turnouts with tortoise engines under the table. I will use Peco flex on the rest of the track.

The layout will be digital (of course) using NCE powercab.

The time frame will be between the 1960's to now... I don't take it to serious.. as long as it is Southern Pacific and it look's ok, i am satisfied:shade:

I think i will have alot of industry on the layout, but i will have some wild scenery to.. One thing that is sure is that in the right corner i will have a large mountain, and inside it i will be a nuclear missile :p because the timeframe is the cold war. it will have a entrance guarded by the military.

I will call this layout Plentywood too :shade: Or maby NEW Plentywood?

This tread will be updated from time to time.

I will also change my homesite to www.plentywood.blogspot.com But you can reach it tru my old link.

You have no siding or other way to pass trains. Why is that?

No, OK, not at the same time;-) But since you have a digital layout, you can easily run more trains and a passing siding can be handy.

I have now started to destroy my layout.

I cannot destroy it all yet.. because i need some track to test some DCC trains.

How about laying in an extra switch on the right side.
That way you will get a side track for more train action.

PS:I would also see if I could get the end modules to be 60cm wide.
40cm. (36cm?) radius is a bit tight for the largest 3axel locomotives like some off the AZL trains.
And I don't think AZL would like go back to making trains for the tightest radius curves. More in the opposite direction with wider curves is my guess.

The end modules is not 40 cm wide. I shall use the radius 220 mm on the right corner and the radius 195 mm on the left corner, that is the only place i shall use radius 195mm, i think.. The left end module is not supposed to be sceniced, because it will be easy to remowe, because i need acces to a closet behind it. I may use a even bigger radius on the right end, but i'll see... BTW: The end modules is not something i will bring to shows. because they will be based just loosly on the zmod standard

Another note.. If i make my layout AZL brass friendly, it will be easyer for me to buy one. I am afraid my head will say this " come on Henrik.. 500$ is not that much.. all you need to do is to rob an old lady.. It's as easy as a piece of cake.."

Henrik, being a father, I suggest you keep your budget under control. It looks like she is being very supporting as it is. On getting a AZL, they are very nice, but they dont run as well as the MTLs. If you want a AZL, get a SD70. They are much better runners then the brass, and they are less expensive.

I agree... But you know how it is to be addicted:angel: The closest to AZL i go is the gp7. I know that their brass is not worth it.. But that SP E8 sure look's tempting.... I considered to get the brass passenger set they said that they shall release, but i have no space for a 12 car set..

But now that MTL releases smooth sides i am saved :shade:

Btw. it was my mom that conviced me to start with Z scale.. She thought that H0 was way to big ( i agree now) And she is a interiour consultant ( is that what it is called in english?) so she help's me in order to make my room look nice, even if my trains are dominant.

Talk about going off topic :shade: from my layout to my mom.....:w20z6q:

Henrik, it looks like you got some good ideas there. I agree wiith you about keeping some test track up. There is nothing worse than not being able to run trains while the new layout is being built.

    Update on progress

Just to show that i am working. I bought plywood today. I have started to draw up the module parts, but it is raining outside, so i cannot cut any pieces today, i will not likely to do it tomorrow either .....

this bridge is going to stand just here, when the scenery is completed: [IMG]

On this picture i am just playing around with the buildings to find the right spot for them: [IMG]

I'll figure i am finished with the benchwork on one module within a few weeks...
Now it is back to practice on my mathematics exam
