    Bob,
Good catch on the 4607. That unit was one of the EMD GP59 demo units. I can remember seeing it with it's EMD numbering and then for a while after NS bought the 3 demonstrators, it ran in EMD colors with a black patch on the cab with the number and NS sub lettering in white.

That would be Rose Hill Cemetery, which is next to the Atlanta District. There is an Allman Brothers museum of sorts here in town, and since I'm an Allman Brothers Band fan, I need to make a trip out to see Duane's grave.

FTR, Richard Perriman (a/k/a Little Richard) and Marvin Gaye are from Macon as well.

Now where did I put that "Eat a Peach" CD.........?

Speaking of railfan places, I've shot pics from Macon Terminal (which is still standing) next to Macon Jct. (where the Atlanta and Savannah Districts diverge), Seventh St., a "railfan's parking lot" at the north end of Brosnan Yard; CP "Water Works", at the south end of Brosnan (next to, yep, the water plant), the Griffin District (ex-CofG0; and the bridge over MLK Jr. Drive. The Atlanta District ducks into the trees shortly after leaving Macon Jct., and ain't too accessible except for Rose Hill or the overpass over MLK.

If not a stack of photo CDs...... :D :D :D

Railfanning has been the one thing that's kept me from going bonkers, esp. on the Navajo rez. I've been able to find RR action just about everywhere I've been, and even yesterday I made a trip 66 miles south to Cordele to get CSX and HOG action, as well as NS. (photos on that later).

Northbound freight rolls between the Ocmulgee River and Rose Hill Cemetery on its way north to Atlanta. Trackage is ex-Georgia Southern & Florida (later Southern). Leading is one of the new SD70M-2s. Behind those trees ahead of me are a group of Confederate soldier's graves. Duane Allman's grave is not far from where I'm standing.

You know, as funny as UP is about "protecting" their trademark, you'd think they'd take their name and logos off the locos before they depart their roster! :)
