Latest purchase coming soon. Waiting for money transfer to complete! Maybe Tuesday, due to Easter weekend. Just agreed to purchase, from a friend, a matched set of DRGW caboose marker lights! He provided them on excursion trips on the Durango/Silverton and Cumbres and Toltec back in the late 70's, maybe into the early 80's. Should have a letter, with background information included with purchase. Something I can frame and hang with markers. Used to be able to sell them through hobby shop he once ran in Durango. Mounted in his train room currently. Come complete with ALL mounting hardware! Train meetings at his place, at one time, he'd hang lamps outside the front door, for ID. In pretty good shape, from the one I saw, that he brought in, to train show back in Dec. Photos of said, once the purchase has been completed! Don't know when yet. Nice addition to my collection of "stuff".
Grande it is! Photos, once I'm able to get them. Decided to poke around Craigslist, out of curiosity Here's the ad, for the markers I just acquired, with photos and brief description: https://boulder.craigslist.org/wan/6086798457.html
Nice. Although not original to the RR, it will be good fun to own them. Be sure to get any documentation possible on their use.
Lon will be bringing lamps by tomorrow, late morning. Should be able to post a few photos sometime tomorrow afternoon, or evening!
Lamps dropped off and paid for yesterday. 2 markers, 4 mounts and a 1983 D&S calendar with a back cover photo, showing D&S car "Alamosa" sitting on the wye, in the snow. With same markers on the back of the car. Was surprised that they didn't go almost immediate. Said he had 2-3 bites, but no one followed up. Also said, even with a kerosene flame burning, the Red lens could be seen from half a mile away! Just need to try and clean soot from chimneys before finding out how, and where to mount! Great addition to the collection of "stuff".
I wonder what the glasses look like on their back side? Am thinking about how lenses for lighthouses are cut or molded. It magnifies their brightness.
