I want to use Kato Unitrack on a Noch Preform Layout. I am thinking possibly BadenBaden or Kaiserstuhl.

    Any thoughts and help.

    Thank you,
    Ed

Ed, my German is poor, like 5 words...but it looks like the Baden-Baden is designed for Arnold track, and I think that they are out of business. If it was me, I would recommend that you contact them asking for other recommendations. The Kato track base might be too tall and too wide...

Due to the limited selection of Kato track I think you may struggle to fit it all in plus, as bremner mentioned, it is designed for Arnold track and height/width of the trackbed might be a problem.
One option would be to use something like SCARM https://www.scarm.info/index.php to replicate the layout using Kato parts and see if you can get it to fit

There is more of a selection of Tomix track than Kato track...

Wow, thank you all for the information.

I have a large collection of Kato Unitrack and I am interested in a Noch preformed layout. Should I consider going with a HO/TT layout board for my Kato Unitrack instead of the N/Z layout board.

I saw Baden-Baden (N/Z) preformed layout which stated that the bridges are HO, can anyone out there verify that.

The other layout board I am considering is the Silvretta which large but it is HO/TT.

I do have some experience w Z layout boards as I combined 4 boards and made customized extensions using Rokuhan track although it was challenging I was able to get it to work.

    Thank you all again,
    Ed

I read that about the bridges, don't know if it is something in the translation Ed. What I have done is dropped them an email and asked if N scale Kato track can be used instead of the Arnold. I'll let you know if they respond
As you can download the track plan, have you considered building it all yourself?

    Lawrence,

I did take your advice and downloaded Scarm. I am in the process of playing with it and am having some success. Is there any real advantage in buying Scarm or is the Free Version OK.

I'm not sure what/if there are any limitations on the free version, initially when it was released it was all free but with the work Mixy has put into it, plus having to fund a larger server, there may now be understandable costs involved in getting full access. I guess you need to gauge what works for you, and there are other products out there like Anyrail, so like I said, whatever works for you.
Not heard back from Noch yet which is disappointing but will let you know as soon as I do

    Lawrence,

One could assume because Kato Unitrack is distributed by Noch, the preformed layouts would have a unitrack layout sheet included w the layout. Unfortunately the operative word here is "assume".

I did find a limitation w the free version of SCARM, it limits the amount of track pieces that you can use. I did purchase SCARM. I used ANYRail in the past and personally do not like it as well as SCARM.

    Thank you,
    Ed

    Hi Ed
I'm rather hacked off as I still have not heard back from Noch, that kind of customer service would put me off puying any of their products, but clearly the choice is yours. Many outlets distribute Kato track so I'm not sure I would read too much in to that. Anyway I'm off to bang them an angry email now

It seems you are trying to combine two really different products.

Kato has plans on the USA site: http://www.katousa.com/track-plans/n-plans.html

I doubt any of those would fit any Noch footprint, due to differences in the curves and switches.

    Hi All,

I did find a few preformed noch layouts that actually have a Kato Unitrack track plan listed. I found one layout listed for HO and TT but the last plan is for N Scale that uses Kato Unitrack which is the Muhltal preformed layout.

Just an update, the Muhltal layout went together well, I did use Kato Unitrack (N). I had to make some minor modifications though.

I uploaded a layout that I designed using AnyRail 6 w Kato Unitrack. This layout will be going in my garage at my AZ home. I plan on moving to AZ in about 4 years.

Sorry Ed, been away for a while, glad you have made some progress. I never did hear from Noch despite several emails, puts them in my ignore bin now! Good luck with the build
