Early in the 20th century, the J.I Case Co.of Racine, Wis. built a total of nine 150 hp. "road locomotives". These were the largest steam traction engines ever built. South Dakotan Kory Anderson, a lifelong steam enthusiast, wanted one. Unfortunately, there was a problem. None of the nine had survived. OK, no problem. Using a set of drawings obtained from the Case archives, Kory built his own, replicating the original as closely as possible. The result is nothing less than spectactular. The first video shows Kory using the beast to set a world record by pulling a 44 bottom plow: 150 Case Steam Engine Pulling 44 Bottom John Deere Plow - YouTube The second video deals with building the engine: Building the 150 Case Road Locomotive - YouTube
Holy cow!! I will have to watch that several times. When I was about 12 years old I did have the wonderful opportunity to help operate a much smaller Case. It's rear wheels are about 6 feet tall and all are covered with truck tire treads so it could run on the black top roads. We also used it to power the oats chopper. Making oats and straw. All was cut with antique tractors, pull behind sickle mowers, wind rowed and picked up with a pull behind the wagon lift. Also a lot of humans with tools before and after. Along with a nice big show like that in the video. Them Good Ol' Days on the farm!! This was in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. Richard .

That's impressive... Scratchbuild a replica 1:1 live steam engine... making it only the tenth ever built!
The Stack Talk is fantastic when 44 bottoms are dropped and the throttle went wide open. The safety blows even with the throttle wide open. WOW
I forgot to come back and watch the rest of the show over the weekend. Other things got in the way. Sure am glad I came back this morning. WOW! Now I'm sure the neighbors are wondering what kind of music I was listening to.
