    Hello Everyone:

Back in the late 80's, NS utilized the long hood end of SD60 6576 to try an experiment with its Thoroughbred herald.

Normally, the center section of the emblem between the speed stripes is white with a 27" black horse.

On the long hood end of the 6576, the center secton of the herald was black with a 27" white horse.

This experiment was not repeated and the 6576 has long since been repainted with the standard Thoroughbred herald. Does anyone happen to have a photo showing the experimental herald?

    Hi Chris,
I checked my rather small NS photo archives, and do not have a picture of the above named unit. Sorry!

Dont know about the unit in question...but I
have noticed at least 1 dash-8 that had
2 lights mounted on the walkway shorthood end
that illuminated the thorobred at night.
