Looking for photos of NYC diesels on line? Try George Elwood's awesome Fallen Flags photo archive at this URL: http://www.dnaco.net/~gelwood/other/nyc-loco.html N(YC) Joy Don Brown Tucson AZ USA
Don, sorry for the late reply. I am new at this. Elwood has a magnificent NYC collection. I haven't checked out the diesels yet but sure enjoy his steam selection. Do you happen to have a photo of a set of NYC PA's to post? Would love to see it, even as a steam nut. ------------------ http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/
Rush2ny, I don't know why your photo didn't come up. I looked at your code and everything looks ok. Typo in the title? Try it again, we'd like to see it. Fitz ------------------ http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/ Member No. 508
Sorry, but there seems to be a problem with my server uploading the pic to this site. Click the link below to view the picture. Click here to see NYC DIESEL
Hmmmmm. I tried that link and got a "forbidden" message telling me I don't have permission to access that site. They must have some security system in place that limits access to users? Fitz
Sorry Fitz. I am uploading them to a different server so let me try again. Sorry for the wait Russ - The HVRR Page
Allright, that worked! OK, now since I'm an old timer into steam, explain to me what the 2000 series EMD diesels were on the NYC. I see a 4000, which would be an E-8 (not bad for a steam guy, eh?) The cigar band one has to be an Alco FA. Do you know Peirce who posts here often? He sends many photos from the Danbury museum and has a lot on his own website. ------------------ http://www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/ Member No. 508
To Ron, Here is the link for more info on the museum: DANBURY RAILWAY MUSEUM To Fitz, No I do not know Peirce (I am new to this board) But if you have the URL to his site I would be much obliged! Happy Railroading and below is a pic of my new NYC FA units from Lifelike (N scale) Russ The Hoffman Valley RR
Russ, Hard to believe those FA's are N scale! Rather than me typing all of Peirce's addresses, etc., go look at the Photography and Trains forum. "There is more to a railroad than trains" thread was started by Peirce, and at the top of his opening messages are links to his home page, his email, etc. As I said, he frequents the Danbury Museum and it is featured on his home page. Ron, do the same.
That Danbury Railway Museum looks like a neat place to hang out.My wife and I are planing an eastern vacation next year, I'll try to work it in. Ron
If you work your way east, do not skip the Strasburg RR and Steamtown, both in Pa. I highly recommend both if you haven't already been there. Russ - The Hoffman Valley RR
Yes the "double S" are on my list. Tho time is a problem I would LIKE to get to EBT also, but since many tourist ops are weekends only it is difficult to squezzzzzz every thing in. On this same note..is anyone out there in the Utica,NY area? I would like some shots of the 0-6-0 that recently moved into town (from Dayton). Ron
Just one of it's stops on it's tour. Danbury and Jersey City were it's 2 eastern stops last summer. Russ-NYC / The Hoffman Valley RR
