Most people use HO for layouts, I like the O-Gauge trains. To the point.

I need some suggestions for this particular scale. If you have any suggestions please post.

I also need a little help with trees, I just cannot get them to look right.

I'm a large scale fan myself, but if I were to consider another scale, I would probably go with On30. I find narrow gauge trains to be the most appealing and with this scale you get the heft of O scale running on HO track.

what size of layout are you thinking of? It would help us help you if we knew.

Here is a link to free issues of O scale Trains magazine:
    http://www.oscalemag.com/docs/dwnld.html
They have about a dozen downloadable older issues. I really enjoy looking at them even as an N scaler.

    Trees...
Is it your armatures that look wrong? I use dried out weeds spray painted with grey paint for the trunk and branches. I have also seen where people twist wire together to make trees.

foliage may be your issue. You have to use something that will stretch out over the tree branches and make the tree look full bu opened up, if that makes any sense. Woodland scenics has some foliage material with tiny strands of fiber that make it so you can really tear the stuff apart for volume, but it still stays connected together.

If you really are tree challanged, get a couple of tree kits and see how they make theirs, then copy them and make your own cheaper.

    good luck!

Are you talking about 2-rail or 3-rail O?

If you mean O "SCALE" then try my layout out. I model in On30 but it is still O scale. Anyhow, you might find it helpful. :)

Welcome to TrainBoard! I've never worked with O scale but the bigger sizes do interest me. Can you provide some information about the area you are building in, apprx size etc. This will make it easier to throw some ideas around. Are you looking for something that just goes around, or are you into operations, switching trains, delevering/picking up goods? Is there a time era and location you are interested in most? I would imagine O scale has some great steam engines available, and sound too!

I was in a hurry a few days ago, but now I will have some pictures that I will put on of the space I have to work with. My Garage and Shed. These are connected together with my own little work area. Its just newly cleaned. The only thing I need to make room for is for the fireplace. If you think I will set my trains on fire you must be crazy. Yeah, Right.
I will upload the images in a few days.
I need to get the Dimensions of the rooms.

I happen to use 3 rail.

My trains now are in my bedroom In their original boxes. Once the layout is complete I shall show you the finished work.

I enjoy both Frieght Pick-up and delivery, and Passenger. So something that has lots of Parrallel Rails for this purpose.

I really meant that I was looking for a Layout Idea

Welcome to Trainboard, looking forward to seeing the dimensions of what sounds like a very large space.

Not to downplay the great forum we have here, but there are O scale forums in other places. The atlasrr.com O scale forum is very supportive. there are some inspiring layout pics there too. you may want to check it out.

Another good O scale forum you may want to check out.
