My name is Al and I have just joined the Trainboard. Many years ago, I built an HO switcher kitted by Mantua. Actually, it was fun and it did run well. But a lot of years have passed making a living, raising a family and paying off a mortgage so model railroading was very, very definitely on a back burner. But now, retired, I have become quite interested in DCC and I have built a modest, small N gage railroad. I have been looking for an 'online' venue to read and discuss model railroading projects, problems and general questions, so I chose Trainboard. I do hope to meet many of you fellows. Al
Hi Al, Welcome. Happy that you found us. I have no idea what a "Hawk" was/is being a USAF electron chaser. Regardless, I thank you for your service. I also built a Mantua switcher kit around 1950-ish. It may have been the 0-6-0 because I already had a Varney Dockside. Though I remember that Mantua's switcher and their Mike were great locos.
