I did not know where to post this so enjoy.
As some know I wanted a _red_ caboose for my Canadian Pacific unit train. Yellow just does not cut it.

So, how hard could it be? I went to the LHS, bought a can of Testors Flat Red. The instructions on the can say to "cut along the ....". Well, I guess I did not understand where that was and punctured the can.
The pics tell the rest of the story.

Ooops - Not a drop on the caboose

Well, at least if it hit my shirt it would have been ok:

PS: Guess who does not have Paint Thinner in the house?

Edit: Updated pictures for new Rail Images.

Bob - Funny you should ask - The guy who owns the condo I share a wall with is one of Boston's Finest. He also had some paint thinner, (and a good laugh).

    Steve-

You just beat Nolan and myself. Whatever you name it, it looks like it is a cut above Stupid Mistakes and Lessons Learned.

Back in high school a few friends and I decided to repaint one of our old cars. We had plenty of masking tape, news paper, a compressor and sprayer and a few gallons of red lacquer. The car actually turned out pretty good but we had paint splattered all over our old cloths and exposed skin. We decided to go for a ride in another car while the paint dried. It was well after dark on a back road and two of us in the back seat were play fighting with a rubber knife. We were putting on quite a show in the headlights of the car following us. Little did we know it was a county sheriff. He turned on his lights, pulled us over and ordered us out of the car. We must have looked like we had just murdered someone. The poor cop was freaked. He pulled his gun and was shaking so bad we thought he was going to accidentally shoot someone. That really scared us so with hands over our heads, we calmly tried to explain what had happened.

You are hereby inducted into the Stupid Mistakes Hall of Fame. When I get around to writing about the next one, you will be accorded a number. We are somewhere in the 40s, I think. Only Hemi has had a number other than me, so consider it an honor.

Fotheringill probably has an equal number of idiocies; he runs the competing Lessons Learned Line hall of infamy.

Disclaimer for newbies: Fotheringill and Nolan enjoy this stuff, and are great on-line buddies.

Wow, Mark, talk about electronics crossing in the ether!

Sorry for the double post--I'm having access problems tonight.

Well, at least we think alike, and make the same type posts.

Think about that as a danger to our civilization!

You guys sound like the kid who tried to puncture the side of a spray can to pour a model airplane paint into a little bottle to use with a small brush for touch-up work. He pierced a small brad sized hole right above the can bottom on the side.

(It was a shock to all present when the can spewed its light blue contents on the table, wall, ceiling, and across mom's dark maroon rug like a rolling rocket!
    Mom was not pleased,
    Dad was not pleased,
and the kid was less pleased.

Judicious use of lacquer thinner removed most all the odd color from the damaged areas, but the kid's skin was a bright red for a few days!)
