Forwarded from Loconotes: LLW 4433 (ex SP 4433) now PNWR 1854 Posted by: "Charles Bonville" chabonor@yahoo.com up_1996_sp Fri Aug 22, 2008 11:24 am (PDT) LLW 4433 (former SP 4433) has been sold to PNWR and is now PNWR 1854. It was restenciled earlier this week, and will soon be leaving for a new coat of paint (and maybe other maintenance?) at Western Rail Inc. in Spokane, Washington. (PNWR has had an 1854 previously, but that was WPRR 1854, and it was scrapped some years ago ------------------------------------------------ AERC 3859 (former SP 3859 GP-9) is now AERC 1750. It was seen at Albany yard on August 8 departing for a repaint at CEECO in Tacoma, WA. (AERC is the Albany & Eastern Railroad in the Willamette Valley of Western Oregon.) -Charles Albany/Corvallis Spotter MP 691, Brooklyn Sub
John- How was the 4433 painted? In old SP colors? I remember at least one picture of a LLW engine in the black widow. Boxcab E50
Not sure but I thought it was bloody nose. This is one of the SD9s I couldn't locate on my last trip to Oregon.
I almost missed it leaving last night (08.22) for its trip north. It's still in rust with some bloody nose showing through! Regards, John
Is "LLW" Lavocot Locomotive Works? He has a beautifully restored SP SD-9 operating on P&W I think. :tb-biggrin:
Yes and Yes. Lavacot's Black Widow SD9E was working on the Albany & Eastern for a while, and now is on the Portland & Western. Before, as the 4364: After, as the 5399: Regards, John
Here's a pic of the AERC unit I shot in Lebanon, OR in December 2006: IIRC, I read in a Yahoo! Groups post the wheels are good for only one more turning in the shops before they get replaced. LLW SD9 4433 in Independence, OR, where Lavacot Locomotive Works is based. This diesel joins one other SD7 and an SD7 in SP colors on the PNWR.
Good pictures, Bob. Now I remember that you were out here for a while. Incidentally, the 3859 (AERC 1750) will be getting new wheels at CEECO. The first time I ever saw the 4433 was on a lousy spring day in 1986 in McMinnville, OR. The Whiteson Turn (Brooklyn-McMinnville) had just arrived. Admittedly, it looked a little better then! Regards, John
when did AERC 3859 in lebanon get renamed to AERC 1750 cause its the first time ive seen it with new paint but does anyone no when their will be pics showing for the 1750 ? for 4433 it was the first time ive seen it active and running many times in lebanon but dident no it was bought to run for PNWR
bluewolf- Welcome to TrainBoard! Wow. From the condition shown in earlier photos, hard to believe 4433 would be operating again. Boxcab E50
LLW SD9 There is the SD9 5399 that is in Black Widow paint. It looks real good and the "Lite Show" has been restored too. The silver trucks are a bit much though as they should be black.
I've seen the 4433 runniing now & then on the PNWR- IMO, she didn't look rattier than any other well-worn SP diesel I've seen in service (I'll duck now:tb-rolleyes
