Maybe "sobering" is a better word than "scary" for it...

    Happy 4th!

@Hoghead2 and others. I finally got them in after weeks it seems. I have never seen anything so small as these items to assemble, especially the picnic tables. Going to be interesting. I plan on posting more pictures of them in this area. Why it is posting them sideways I have no clue? The pictures don't do them justice. They are way smaller in real life, especially the picnic tables as people who have assembled them will tell you. So the plan is the Piper Cub first, then the Cessna 172, hope I don't break anything, and last the picnic tables. Might not be able to drink coffee that day :)

No thanks for now, although I do like the trash can. Luckily I had a friend 3D print me some trash cans, and pallets. man are those things tiny, especially the trash cans :) I think I have my work cut out ( get it ) for me with these. Please don't break anything :) I'm excited and scared at the same time.

When you post pictures of these, include a coin like a penny or dime for reference.

I've had two dimes on my desk since I ordered them :) Might even take a picture with the dimes before attempting assembly :) Think I will when I open them. have to setup my second folding table, ( used for second base, currently stored in attic next to me ), which is also my work bench at times. Takes about 2 minutes to set it up. Gonna do it tonight. And open these things up to take a look see :)

Here you go. First impression, the Piper is really cool. Haven't read all of the instructions, but what I have read, I like a lot. Might depend on my ability though as far as assembly goes. Here is hoping. Already want to order another Piper with the Grasshopper kit and haven't even got started :) Along with the Monroe Models fencing @mtntrainman got :)

Be super careful doing those picnic tables ! I tried to assemble 3 high tables for outdoors at the 'Bistro'. The pedestals didn't survive the build !!! I had to fashion my own pedestals out of some plastic ! That wood they use is super fragile ! :censored::censored::censored:

I've got the fuselage together for the most part. What did I learn so far? Turn the sheets over to cut the fuselage pieces from the sprue, only a few places you have to cut with your exacto knife. A magnifying glass or glasses is a must, I don't care how good your eyes are :) When it tells you to insert the alignment blocks ( which are tiny and you have to sand them ), insert them into the thicker pieces first 2L and 2R, or one of them at least. 1L and 1R are very thin and fragile, so I would insert the alignment pieces in say 2L or 2R , your choice only one of them, then insert 1L and 1R into the alignment blocks. Look at the instructions you can tell the thicker pieces are 2L and 2R. What I have so far.

    IMG_2106.jpg

See that tiny, tiny, black piece to the left that broke off the fuselage nose? Those things are so fragile, almost impossible not to break one off.

Check it out, nothing glued yet, no landing gear, no wing struts, etc... Me likes it a lot. Yo have to be very careful though. I could still break something if I breath wrong :) I'm suppose to sand the area of the fuselage between the wings and the elevators on the side to contour the fuselage or taper it, if you please. Not really sure what kind of glue to use? I have school glue, gorilla glue, etc... And I am hoping the Yellow wally world paint will work. Need to try it on a test piece it looks really Yellow. :) But that is a ways off still, I think!

    IMG_2109.jpg

I like the size of it better than my 3D printed aircraft, so far! Need to put something N Scale next to it. Time for another photo. Remember no landing gear yet, and no wing struts. But looks good next to N Scale objects. A tiny strip of painters tape under the wings ( no struts ), they are starting to droop :)

    IMG_2111.jpg

No problem, says white glue on the instructions, I'm good!

A trick I have learned when dealing with very thin wood is to apply some very thin ACC to the wood. Soaks in and strengthens the wood. You may want to separate the part from the sprue before applying ACC. Does not affect painting or using white glue when the ACC dries.

John has a great idea I was going to suggest also. Use THIN CA, i.e., CA-. And do this on a piece of surface that CA doesn't stick to. You don't want your part stuck to the table. :)

Guess who broke the landing gear and now has to try and repair it, yeah right. I'll figure something out, maybe it's in the shop or something getting the landing gear repaired. Some of these pieces are so small. I am not looking forward to the picnic tables. Those will for sure be put off for awhile. But iI'm having a blast with the aircraft. Am I gonna break some stuff, for sure. I already want to order more though. They have like 6 aircraft, and a bunch of other stuff from Osborn. I think I could get addicted. We will see how it goes :)

    IMG_2112.jpg

Still no struts on the winds, nothing glued. It tried to take off when I had the ceiling fan and pedestal fan on :) Now on the stand, while I try, not gonna happen, to fix landing gear, nope order more landing gears :)

YES, as stated nothing has been glued yet. I even have to remove the fuselage pieces to glue them together. Trying to figure out IF I can fix the landing gear at some point. So I have to glue the fuselage, then sand it supposedly so that the contour is correct, yeah right. The slowly go from there. I mean I have made some mistakes like breaking the landing gear cause it came off the sprue in one piece but I wasn't paying attention when handling it, my bad :) And when sanding I have to try and NOT break more things. Even with all that I am digging these aircraft kits. Already want to order more, but need to wait see how the final build looks.

Plus I have the Cessna 172 kit also to build :) The picnic tables are gonna be set aside for a bit. Don't have the nerve right now :) They are going to be a major pain.

So I think I have Frankenstein landing gear now :) Not pretty but so far it works, so far. Might not last. Going to attempt to sand and paint at lest the fuselage tonight and tomorrow. Curious to see how it turns out? I'm calling this my learning Osborn kit. Of course they all could end up being that?

    IMG_2113.jpg

Things don't exactly line up. And if I breath it may fall apart :) But they are removable as they are suppose to be, for now. Don't know why my iPhone 13 won't focus sometimes? I have Fred Flintstone wheels :)

    IMG_2114.jpg

Office clip, have no idea what they are called, while glue dries. Just a dab with the tip of my Xacto knife applied to pieces. It's like making a sandwich.

    IMG_2115.jpg

Good thing it is a vintage aircraft, cause my paint job sure is :) The decals should be a trip :)

Well first off DON'T put decals that Peel off in to water, my bad. And thank goodness they are peel off instead of plastic models decals. I present you the unassembled Tweety bird Piper Cub. The decals are awesome when you use them correctly :) I mean of course it would look better with a better paint job, or a airbrush one, I want one of those battery operated ones, but to be honest have no where to use it, and parts are so small I would lose then in a garage or something. So I'll stick with the cheap Walmart paint for now.

    IMG_2116.jpg

One of the wings with the numbers are the underside of the wing with registration. Forgot to focus again. I think the registration number on the underside was suppose to be on the same wing as the top registration number, oh well.

Working with wood takes a different skill level but oh so satisfying when done right. And as long as the oopsies are small easly fixed with a little wood putty and a sanding stick. Among my wood N scale items are of course the seaplane, three train cars, numerous structures, and even some N scale ships.

Besides some touch up, Tweety Bird pretty much done. Or the Osborn Piper Cub. Definitely getting another one of these kits, maybe two :) Once again at normal viewing it looks fine!

Yellow is horribly translucent. I always prime yellow models with white primer first.
