Anyone know a good combo of colors to achieve a sandstone hue? (I'm using the Woodland Scenics colors, if it matters...)

I tried yellow ochre with a dab of grey, but didn't quite get what I want. Maybe my mix is off. [IMG]

I know what you mean Alan! I went through a LOT of yellow ochre trying to get the right effect. (Not to mention covering a plaster casting with about three coats of paint...argh.)

But, I think I've found the result I'm looking for. Straight yellow ochre with a nice black wash. Looks pretty good. I'm open to other opinions if anyone has 'em though!

And thanks for the welcome Alan! [IMG]

Not sure if this will help but I coloured my plaster with black coffee. after 3 coats it looked very much earth like. You can visit my site to see the results. Welcome to trainboard Canadian Knight i hope you enjoy trainboard and look forward to your contributions

    Regards

If all else fails, I guess you could mix some varnish and dirt? At least it would be real. Quit hittin' me; that's a joke!! [IMG]
