At the moment, there's about 100,000 sq. ft. under roof, and 4 acres outside at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. All the collection is static display. Operating equipment is on the Strasburg Railroad across the street. Unfortunately the Museum has been closed since 15 March due to the virus.
Pennsylvania Railroad Museum - Strasburg PA 2007 Well, that's it. All the pics I was able to get while there. I'm sure I may have missed a few displays but I tried to get as many as I could. Hope you all enjoyed this tour.
I have not been there for about 5 years but pretty much everything inside and out is a static display other than inside having lighting in some of the displays and as far as I remember nothing actually operates. Most of the equipment outside is in the same shape as when delivered and waiting for possible future rehab.
Not sure if this place is still open but if it is, might be a good place to stay when visiting. It is jut a couple of blocks down the road from the RR museum. Strasburg PA - 2007
Another place to visit in the area is the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg PA. Currently closed due to the health situation. It is the headquarters of the TCA.
I like their "No Standing Any Time" sign, i.e. "Do Not Look At These Highly Attractive Locomotives". (I get it, pedestrian safety and all.)
