Working on the south bank of Bird Creek. I’m going to pull out the trees and paint the backdrop/wall. It’s still a dead end but not much I can do about that.

    Thanks for looking,

How about a tunnel with just a tad bit of depth, even an inch. Would be realistic to a viewer from the aisle. Even if not prototypical, better than running into a dead end. Just a thought.

    Michael,

Thanks for the idea, the closest tunnel to me is I-49 in Arkansas south of Fayetteville. However, I believe I will take some modelers license and do a tunnel portal for the highway portion. I can camo the small hole with painted trees. We will see how it looks.

    Thanks!

The more I think about it, the more I like the portal idea. I can’t think of a tunnel on the highway system in Oklahoma. It’s going to be the Byers Memorial Tunnel. Named for Pete Byers, I knew Pete many years, when the barge hit the I-40 bridge over the navigation channel at Gore Oklahoma and put about a third of it underwater, Pete came out of retirement to be one of the engineers on the project. He was a very fine gentleman, and was very passionate about better transportation in Oklahoma.

The North portal of the S.C. “Pete” Byers Tunnel. Traverses 900’ through Limestone Ridge at Catoosa Oklahoma. Totally fictional location in Oklahoma. It will get coated with a thin layer of drywall mud and painted.

I'd move it out from wall an inch or so, it will give you room to scenic behind the portal to the wallboard, giving better illusion of depth. It will also give you some room to hide the hard edge of the backdrop.

The design for tunnels looks perfect for that spot Dale. (y) I do agree with RGW about giving it some depth. Maybe move it out at least an inch more or so.
