Yesturday at a Train Show, I was running a P2K 2-8-8-2 locomotive. Man, she was a fine thing! I had no trouble with speed control, she pulled 45 ore cars (could have done more), and had a good cruisin' speed. The detail was great, but the bell was not so good, as the wire that connected it with the cab caused alot of trouble. She was run for 3 hours, but then started to get hot and stopped. ahhhhhhhhhh so they do exist.... i have never been able to see one in the flesh so to say, i did try to get one but with no luck, what problems was the bell causing?? was it DCC, if so was it the decoder that got hot or the motor? ------------------ Matthew wheres all the C636's???? stickymonk.com Matts Photo gallery

It was 30 degrees celcuis, and there were quite a few cars behind it. There is a wire the connects the bell, and the cab (the rope, basically, but ll used metal), and the wire was to tightly placed, causing it to bulge up in a U type shape, so we had to remove it, and then we were left with a hole in the bell area. Oh well.... Happy Railroading!! Dane N. ------------------ BC Rail King TAMR2860@Canada.com for TAMR info. BCRailKing@Canada.com
Yes they do exist. I trapped the beast at my local hobby shop Hobbyland in Col. OH.after a very long and hard hunt . My model is running DCC and really runs great. I have been running it with about 20 coal hoppers and so far have noticed no heating problems. The bell rope is a bit of a problem though, it developed a small kink in it during shipping that I cant seem to remove. But thats a minor problem as far as I an concearned. It has my vote for loco of the year!! If the future P2K locos are as good as this one Lifelike will have no trouble selling out future runs......Mike ------------------ Its only Money !!
The 0-8-0 actually looks even better if you can believe it!!! Happy RRing! Dane N. ------------------ BC Rail King BCRailKing@Canada.com InternationalRegion@tamr.org for TAMR info. Dane_Nicholson@tamr.org http://www.tamr.org [This message has been edited by BC Rail King (edited 20 July 2000).]

quote:
Originally posted by tunnel88: Haven't seen the 0-8-0 yet.

I don't think they are out yet. I know a store here in Van just got the call to see if they wanted any just the other day. But I think they had an add, somewhere, and I saw a pic of one on line. Happy Railroading!! Life Like made a bigger deal about the 0-8-0 on there website than the SD60. ------------------ Theres no such thing as having to many coal hoppers or GP40-2 when you model Chessie System LONG LIVE THE KITTEN!!! LONG LIVE BIG BLUE!!!
I think because it's kind of a bigger deal. I'm not a steam ere modeler but i'm excited about that 0-8-0! Don't get me wrong though, those SD60s will come home with me...(Saw Oak #9011 today with a pumpkin SD40-2 running light)

The "Dealer's" Proto 2000 0-8-0 has been shipped. My "local" hobby shop has his display model. Great model. Don't know when the production run hits the streets. Checked several stores, they're "sold out" on their allotment.
I have reserved the 0-8-0 from Tony's Train Exchange avec DSD decoder and speaker, should be delivered sometime late Aug or Sept. I shall give a report upon arrival and operational testing. I have just taken delivery of the Genisis Light Mikado with sound and light. Not as much detail as a United, but when considering the price well worth it. I know TTX tests their locos but this ran like a top right out of the box, and has been operating every night for 3 weeks. As with any DCC system you have to keep the wheels clean, the negitive ions tend to attract the plastic crud from the rails, I was peeling it off the tender trucks. I like the fact that it feeds only off the loco wheels, the yellow headlight is a little lame, but what the hay. When I have friends over and they get to blow the whistle and ring the bell, its fun to watch their eyes light up. ------------------ When in doubt, empty your magazine.
